Peanut Butter Ball Tips:
- You can use any nut butters for this recipe. Almond butter, cashew butter, etc…
- Make sure the balls are chilled before dipping.
- We love these Chocolate Dipping Tools, but you can always use a fork for dipping. A toothpick will also work. Expect a bit of a mess, but it will work.
- You can melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30- second increments, or over a double boiler.
- You can use chunky peanut butter instead of creamy if you prefer. We also like to add in Rice Krispies sometimes for some texture.
- Add any type of holiday sprinkles, chopped peanuts, sea salt or whatever you prefer. It’s all good!

These were delicious but mine came out way too crumbly with the full cup of sugar. They were probably the right consistency with only 1/2 – 2/3 cup of powdered sugar but I ended up adding the full cup and it never came together. I added a few tablespoons of Bailey’s until I got back to the right consistency and this ended up being so amazing I was glad I had to modify it. I added sea salt to the top of each one after dipping and they were just perfect. Already want to make another batch!
Thanks Christy!
I followed the directions exactly, but I had an extra hard time covering them with the melted chocolate. I think they maybe need to go in freezer for a few instead of fridge to really harden a bit more, but not sure if this was the reason.
The recipe called for shortening or coconut. When do you add it in? Not mentioned in instructions just ingredients.
Hi Nina. You can add one tablespoon of shortening or coconut oil to the chocolate to help make the consistency smoother and it also gives the chocolate a nice sheen.
Super simple and DELICIOUS!!! They were done in no time and my family devoured them!!! I did one part honey/crunchy peanut butter, the other part smooth. Thank you so much for this recipe!! Triple thumbs up!
Yay! Thanks Cindy!
I have made these for years, my mom taught me. My whole family loves them. You should try them.I forgot the last star! 5 stars
Thanks Kathy!
Not to sound like a middle schooler, but OMG……… followed the recipe, really easy to do, they were absolutely delicious. Perfect mixture of ingredients, not too sweet, not too bland, soft or dense. Thank you for sharing
Ha! Thank you Sage!
These are so delicious! I use them for my Christmas cookie boxes i give away every year, or just a quick sweet fix during the year.
Thank you Tamara! We include these on our Christmas cookie trays as well!
Write a note saying they need to go in the fridge or did you not worry about it when you deliver them
My Mom made these for us when I was young and I loved them!!! I just had a craving for them and looked up the recipe. Thank goodness it was here!!!!!
I knew it contained the peanut butter and confectioners sugar but couldn’t remember if there were any other ingredients. I’m out of chocolate, so I’m going to do what she did and after rolling them into balls, I’ll roll them in some powdered sugar like she did!!!!
Now, tomorrow, I’ll go get some chocolate !!!!!!! Yummmmmm!!!!!
Glad you found the recipe Charlene!
Mine are delicious, but “sticky” to the touch. What did I do wrong?
Thanks Susan. It could be several things. Did you refrigerate to let harden?
I love this recipe! Its so easy !They are a hit everytime I make them!!
Thank you Lillie!
