Peanut Butter Balls

Peanut Butter Ball Tips:

  • You can use any nut butters for this recipe. Almond butter, cashew butter, etc…
  • Make sure the balls are chilled before dipping.
  • We love these Chocolate Dipping Tools, but you can always use a fork for dipping. A toothpick will also work. Expect a bit of a mess, but it will work.
  • You can melt the chocolate in the microwave in 30- second increments, or over a double boiler.
  • You can use chunky peanut butter instead of creamy if you prefer. We also like to add in Rice Krispies sometimes for some texture.
  • Add any type of holiday sprinkles, chopped peanuts, sea salt or whatever you prefer. It’s all good!

When are you supposed to add the oil? Its in the ingredients but not the directions…

    1. Jill says:

Hi Lisa. The coconut oil is added to the chocolate and helps the consistency and sheen.

    2. Robin Klass says:

You add it with the chocolate.

  4. Kimberlea Hampton says:

Hello, I made these but my dough is very crumbly. I used Teddy all natural smooth peanut butter, is that possibly why? I’m still going to make it work, no worries there

    1. Jill says:

Hi Kimberlea. Sorry to hear that. I haven’t used that specific brand but yes, the natural peanut butter will tend to react differently depending on the consistency and how well it was mixed. We use it in our no bake protein balls with no issues.

I love these but I would like to make these using custard powder instead of peanut butter . Like a nanimo bar. I am not sure how much custard powder to use. Can you help. Thanks Linda

    1. Jill says:

Hi Linda. I haven’t tried these using custard like you describe. The filling ingredients would likely be powdered sugar, custard powder, butter and heavy cream in a consistency that once refrigerated could be shaped into balls.

These were great with dark chocolate chocolate chips and coconut oil. I also tried them with butterscotch chips for a non chocolate lover and they were quite a bit harder to coat but perhaps with more coconut oil it would have been better. The taste with butterscotch chips was fine.

    1. Jill says:

      Thank you Craig!

I ate the peanut butter ball before I could dip it
Also what is the coconut oil for?

    1. Jill says:

Ha! Thanks Kriss. The coconut oil is added to the chocolate and helps the consistency and sheen.

    2. Nena says:

Thanks for asking about the coconut oil. I was wondering the same thing thought maybe with the chocolate but wasn’t sure.
