What You’ll Need

Below are the essential ingredients for this Stove Top stuffing meatloaf recipe. It’s the perfect shortcut recipe to save you time when you’re too busy to cook.

  • Ketchup: I add ketchup to the meatloaf for sweetness and moisture. I spread it over the top before it bakes as well.
  • Eggs: The eggs help bind the meatloaf so it holds its shape. They also add moisture.
  • Stove-top stuffing mix: The stuffing mix works with the eggs to bind the ingredients together and adds tons of flavor.
  • Ground beef: I use 85% lean ground beef for the perfect amount of fat so it doesn’t become greasy as it cooks.

How to Make Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf

All you have to do is mix, shape, and bake this meatloaf. It’s so incredibly easy! Prep only takes about 10 minutes and then the oven does the rest of the work.

  • Prep the oven and pan. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Combine eggs and water. Add the eggs and water to a large mixing bowl. Whisk the ingredients until they are well combined.
  • Add the remaining ingredients. Combine the egg mixture with the stuffing mix, ground beef, and ¼ cup of ketchup. Ensure your hands are clean and then mix all of the ingredients until they are well incorporated.
  • Shape it and add ketchup. Place the meatloaf mixture into the prepared baking dish and shape it into a loaf. Then, brush the remaining ketchup on top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake. Put it into the oven and bake it for about 55 minutes.
  • Cool and serve. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing it. Enjoy with your favorite side!

Tips for Success

  • Don’t overmix the beef. Only mix the ingredients until they are well combined. If you overwork the meat, the meatloaf will become tough.
  • Try adding pork or turkey. For a different flavor profile, replace half of the ground beef with ground pork, chicken or ground turkey.
  • Pan. I prefer to shape the meatloaf mixture and place onto a baking sheet, but feel free to use loaf pans.
  • Variations. Instead of ketchup, use bbq sauce. For a sweeter glaze, all 2 tablespoons brown sugar to the 1/4 cup ketchup before brushing it over the meatloaf.
  • Additions. You can add chopped veggies like onions and bell pepper if you prefer.

Proper Storage

  • Storing in the Fridge. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat a slice, microwave it for 1-2 minutes or until warmed through.
  • Freezing. You can freeze it tightly wrapped for up to 4 months uncooked or up to 3 months cooked. Another option is to freeze individual slices. When ready to use, defrost the slices in the fridge overnight before baking.

I don’t particularly like meatloaf, but my husband does. I made this tonight, following the recipe as stated-just divided the recipe’s ingredients and cook time in half. This meatloaf was very moist and tasty. It was the first time that I ate the entire slice of meatloaf. I paired it with a green bean casserole and stuffing. We even shared some with a neighbor. Delicious! I will continue to make this meatloaf. Thank you!

I have a very sensitive digestive system and struggle to find recipes I can eat. This coupled with butter and herb mash potatoes was perfect. I will be making this again and again.

  3. I make a similar one, but I sautee the diced onions in Zesty Italian Dressing first, and also add shredded cheese in the meatloaf, as well as put shredded cheese on the top in the last 5 minutes of cooking. My family loves it and I’ve been asked to share my recipe many times.

The first time we used made this meatloaf our then 11 yr old daughter found the recipe and wanted to make it on her own. This is now the ONLY meatloaf recipe we use!! So quick, easy and delicious!! Thank you so much!!!

I make this recipe all the time. I also add Lipton Beefy Onion Soup and then it gets 5 stars! Oh and I use regular ketchup instead of BBQ sauce because it tastes better IMHO. I made this recipe with BBQ sauce once, and I (and my family) thought it tasted too weird.

Just whipped this up and we loved it. Used cornbread stuffing and only had 1 lb of hamburger so had 1/2 lb sage sausage and added it and turned out excellent . Thanks for sharing. Oh also added some fresh garden onion I sauteed and added to the mix.

  14. Very good. Would use more ketchup for topping. Like a full 1/2 cup on top next time. Also, would add chopped onions to the mix. And add Salt, pepper and garlic power to the mix.
