What You’ll Need
Below are the essential ingredients for this Stove Top stuffing meatloaf recipe. It’s the perfect shortcut recipe to save you time when you’re too busy to cook.
- Ketchup: I add ketchup to the meatloaf for sweetness and moisture. I spread it over the top before it bakes as well.
- Eggs: The eggs help bind the meatloaf so it holds its shape. They also add moisture.
- Stove-top stuffing mix: The stuffing mix works with the eggs to bind the ingredients together and adds tons of flavor.
- Ground beef: I use 85% lean ground beef for the perfect amount of fat so it doesn’t become greasy as it cooks.

How to Make Stove Top Stuffing Meatloaf
All you have to do is mix, shape, and bake this meatloaf. It’s so incredibly easy! Prep only takes about 10 minutes and then the oven does the rest of the work.
- Prep the oven and pan. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9×13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- Combine eggs and water. Add the eggs and water to a large mixing bowl. Whisk the ingredients until they are well combined.

- Add the remaining ingredients. Combine the egg mixture with the stuffing mix, ground beef, and ¼ cup of ketchup. Ensure your hands are clean and then mix all of the ingredients until they are well incorporated.
- Shape it and add ketchup. Place the meatloaf mixture into the prepared baking dish and shape it into a loaf. Then, brush the remaining ketchup on top of the meatloaf.

- Bake. Put it into the oven and bake it for about 55 minutes.
- Cool and serve. Allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing it. Enjoy with your favorite side!

Tips for Success
- Don’t overmix the beef. Only mix the ingredients until they are well combined. If you overwork the meat, the meatloaf will become tough.
- Try adding pork or turkey. For a different flavor profile, replace half of the ground beef with ground pork, chicken or ground turkey.
- Pan. I prefer to shape the meatloaf mixture and place onto a baking sheet, but feel free to use loaf pans.
- Variations. Instead of ketchup, use bbq sauce. For a sweeter glaze, all 2 tablespoons brown sugar to the 1/4 cup ketchup before brushing it over the meatloaf.
- Additions. You can add chopped veggies like onions and bell pepper if you prefer.
Proper Storage
- Storing in the Fridge. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat a slice, microwave it for 1-2 minutes or until warmed through.
- Freezing. You can freeze it tightly wrapped for up to 4 months uncooked or up to 3 months cooked. Another option is to freeze individual slices. When ready to use, defrost the slices in the fridge overnight before baking.

What to Serve with Meatloaf
- Potatoes – Creamy Mashed Potatoes are the perfect accompaniment with meatloaf, but other potato side dishes work well, too. Try baked potatoes, scalloped potatoes, or even sweet potatoes.
- Veggies – Sauteed Green Beans, Glazed Carrots, and Crock Pot Creamed Corn are really delicious with this easy meatloaf.
- Salad – a tossed green salad and dressing pairs well with the meatloaf dinner.
- Bread – slide and serve some fresh bread with butter.

I use savory herb stuffing, milk instead of water and a can sloppy Joe instead of ketchup. Awesome meatloaf!
I substitute ground turkey for the beef and bbq sauce for the ketchup and was delicious!

I sometimes replace the ketchup with BBQ sauce. Gives it a different twist.
Great substitution Cathy. Thanks!
This is a great recipe. I was skeptical because I don’t care for StoveTop stuffing, but I was given some from a local food pantry. I ran across this recipe, and was pleasantly surprised. Thank you!

This is the best meatloaf recipe I’ve ever tried. It’s my go-to recipe. I’m making it for dinner tonight but using ground turkey.

I make this often. But I add a wrinkle – I bake in a muffin pan so I can individually freeze portions for later.
That’s a great idea Bill. Thanks!
I have made this meatloaf several times and have been so impressed with the outcome and taste awesome. I mixed half hamburger half sage sausage and used the savory herbs stuffing with excellent results …Thank you for sharing such a quick and simple recipe.
Thank you Torri!
Do you need to ground the Stove Top Stuffing like in a food processor or just throw it in the bowl like it comes out of the box?
Hi Sally. You can just use it as it comes out of the box.
Added just a little garlic and onion powder to this easy, delicious recipe. Thank you
Thanks Mary!
The only thing I did differently was make 2 loaves from it, and placed them both into a 9×12 glass baking dish. They were delicious!
Thanks Dee!
I don’t like mixing food with my hands when I have nail polish on but I did it anyway. Hopefully we didn’t eat any bits of polish. That being said, the meatloaf was fantastic! I’ll alternate this one with my basic meatloaf so we won’t get sick of it. I make meatloaves often these days.
I use disposable rubber gloves
That’s why I keep a box of disposable medical gloves in my kitchen. I use for when handling raw meat.
If, after mixing ingredients together, I wanted to freeze 1/2, should I cook first? Or freeze raw ingredients?
Hi Kathy. Really, you could do either and have good results in baking or reheating.
This turned out perfect!
I just wish you would share the nutrition information.
This is really good. I added a little mozzarella cheese on top and only used 1lb of beef for a smaller amount but kept everything else the same.
