This turkey noodle soup is a twist on my crockpot chicken noodle soup, using leftover turkey instead of chicken. I also added some heavy cream to give this soup a rich, creamy broth, and frozen noodles to make it feel a bit fancy. (Though you’re welcome to use regular egg noodles too.) Keep this one on hand for those chilly winter nights!

Why You’ll Love This Turkey Noodle Soup Recipe

Here are a few reasons why this is one of my favorite soup recipes.

  • Great way to use leftover turkey. I don’t know about in your family but in mine, we always end up with lots of leftovers after the holiday dinner. After a day or so of eating leftover turkey…no one really wants it anymore. This turkey noodle soup is a great way to repurpose those leftovers into something new!
  • Dump it & forget it. The slow cooker does all the work in this turkey noodle soup recipe. Add most of the ingredients to the crock pot, let it cook for 4-6 hours, add the noodles, and let it cook a bit more. It’s so easy.
  • Made with frozen noodles. To elevate this soup recipe a bit, I opted to use frozen noodles instead of regular dried noodles. You get the effect of fresh noodles in the soup without any of the work of making fresh noodles.

What You’ll Need

This easy turkey and noodle soup is made with 5 main ingredients and a few spices. You can find the exact measurements in the recipe card below.

  • Shredded turkey – This is a great way to use up leftover roasted turkey or Christmas turkey crown.
  • Veggies – Carrots, onion, and celery. All should be peeled and chopped.
  • Chicken broth – I recommend opting for low-sodium broth to control the final saltiness of the soup.
  • Spices – Poultry seasoning, garlic powder, and salt.
  • Frozen noodles – I love the texture of frozen noodles in this recipe. Frozen noodles are usually homemade noodles frozen while fresh so it’s like adding fresh pasta to the soup, without the work of making fresh pasta.
  • Heavy whipping cream – Adds a creamy texture to the broth.

Recipe Variations

There are lots of ways to customize this turkey noodle soup recipe and make it your own. Here are a few ideas:

  • Add more veggies. Frozen peas are an easy addition. Green beans would work too!
  • Use dried pasta. If you don’t have frozen pasta on hand, you can use dried pasta. But only cook for 30 minutes after adding the dried noodles.
  • Try it with chicken. If you don’t have leftover turkey, you can easily make this soup with leftover shredded chicken. A rotisserie chicken would work well too!
  • Use turkey stock. Feel free to substitute turkey stock in place of the chicken broth, if you have it.
  • Add more seasonings. You can adjust the seasonings to your preference. Add more salt and pepper as needed. You could also add some garlic or parsley. Just be sure to taste test before adding salt as the poultry seasoning can be pretty salty.

Serving Suggestions

A big bowl of this turkey noodle soup makes the perfect lunch or dinner on a chilly winter day. You could serve it in a bread bowl for an added touch or serve it with a side of breadsticks. For a lighter meal, serve it with your favorite side salad.

How To Store & Reheat Leftovers

  • Fridge. Leftover turkey noodle soup can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Freeze. You can also freeze this soup for up to 3 months in an airtight freezer-safe container. Just be aware that the texture of the noodles may be affected. Thaw in the fridge.
  • Reheat. You can reheat the soup on the stovetop, bringing it to a gentle simmer, or in the microwave. Keep in mind that the noodles will continue to absorb the broth so you may need to add a splash of chicken broth when reheating.

  1. Really looks so good and want to make it, but too high in carbs! Type 1 diabetes so cannot have it! Love to see receipes with lower carbs! Thanks

    1. Hi Pam. I understand your concern. Most all of the carbs per serving are coming from the noodles. Omitting the noodles bring the carbs to 9 grams per serving. Maybe you could substitute a lower carb noodle? We will try to post more low carb too!
