I made this terrific recipe as I hosted coffee hour after church today. It was a hit. I hardly had a morsel to take back home.

  2. Hello! I had a question: could I add fresh cut apple pieces to the cake batter? Or would that mess up the batter too much? Just curious! Can’t wait to try this recipe!

    1. Hi Ty. Yes, you could add fresh apples to this cake and have good results. Let us know if you try it!

This recipe and cake is actually better than apple cider donuts! Well unless you’re at an apple farm and hot off the shelf but at home this is easy and delicious

  4. The link to the recipe mentions an apple cider glaze. There’s no mention of the glaze in the recipe. I think the glaze would be a great addition. My cake, on the inside, looked nothing like the picture. I feel like it’s missing something. It’s still good though.

  5. Do I melt the 1/4cup butter for the topping of sugar and cinnamon?
Or do I try to spread the butter on?

I make this cake. It was so easy and filled my house with the most wonderful smell – after all, what smells better than cinnamon? After letting the cake cool and applying the cinnamon/sugar topping – wow! But the best part was when we had a piece of this cake for dessert, my husband, who has a real sweet tooth – told me I didn’t need do ever bake any other kind of cake. He loved it! So easy and so good.

I did make this it looks really like a doughnut because I didn’t have a Bundt pan. I had a different kind of pan so it looks like an actual donut smells wonderful.

This is an amazing cake. Have made this more than once before. The only extra I’ve done was to add diced apples and a little more cinnamon (kids wanted more) It’s an awesome Fall favorite anytime of year!

    1. I thought the cake was good but figured the next time I make it that I would also add some apple to it and maybe some sugar and cinnamon in the middle. Felt it could use more apple flavor.

It was a little lighter in texture than I was expecting. It was more like a cake than a donut. I would have liked more apple cider flavor! I will make it again.

Made as a carry in for my 40th birthday at work. Got RAVE reviews from my coworkers. I drizzled caramel syrup on top, and brought whip cream / caramel in if they wanted to top it with that as well.

Love this recipe, I added a few things to it…
I diced up 2 Granny Smith apples and coated them with brown sugar and cinnamon and added it to the mix
I also tried it with a powder sugar glaze topping made with powder sugar and spiced apple cider and cinnamon as an alternative to the regular sugar topping…..

Would I have to change anything to make this as muffins? Want to give as gifts for Christmas. Thanks!

    1. Yes you can. If you haven’t received a response from kitchen fun with my 3 sons. Just fill the muffin cup 2/3 full. Makes about 18 to 23 muffins. Hope that helps.

This looks amazing! What is being poured over it in the photo shown on FB? Just wondered if there was a syrup or sauce that you used too? 🙂 Thanks for all your great recipes <3
