- Soft and Chewy – this combination of the orange cake mix and the cream cheese creates a perfect soft and chewy texture.

Ingredients Needed
Here’s what you’ll need to make these delicious orange cake mix cream cheese cookies (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the printable recipe card):
- Orange Cake Mix – any brand will work.
- Cream cheese – softened.
- Butter – softened.
- Egg – room temperature.
- Orange extract – this adds the perfect amount of orange flavor.
- Orange food coloring – this is optional
- White chocolate chips – used in the mix and we use a few extra for the top.
- Powdered sugar – the cookies are rolled in powdered sugar before baking.

How To Make Orange Creamsicle Cookies
- Combine the butter, cream cheese, egg, orange flavor extract and orange cake mix.
- Mix in the white chocolate chips. Cover the dough and chill it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Form the dough into 24 cookie balls and roll each ball in powdered sugar.
- Line the cookie dough balls on cookie sheets. You can also press a few extra white chocolate chips to the top of each cookie.

- Bake the cookies at 350ºF for 12-13 minutes, then remove to cool on a wire cooling rack.

Storing and Freezing
- Place the baked Orange Creamsicle Cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4-5 days.
- Freeze: allow the baked cookies to cool completely. Place the baked cookies (while they are on the baking sheet) in the freezer. Once frozen, place them in a freezer-safe plastic bag and store for up to 4 weeks.

Variations and Tips
- Change the flavor – Swap out the orange cake mix and extract for lemon cake mix and extract. You’ll also want to use just a little yellow food coloring instead of orange.
- White chocolate chips – if you don’t have white chocolate chips or don’t prefer them, you can absolutely make this recipe without them. Just skip that ingredient but otherwise make the cookies as directed.
- Softened ingredients – make sure the butter and the cream cheese are softened. We also like to keep our eggs at room temperature when baking.
- Use a cookie scoop – to make sure each cookie is the same size.

Is there anything you could substitute for the cream cheese? Thanks.
Hi Deb. I haven’t tried it, but I think you could omit the cream cheese and have good results. I would probably add another 1/4 cup white chocolate chips and halve the powdered sugar amount as well.
Hi My grandchildren love these cookies. However each time I make them the balls just melt out and I am left with a creamsicle sheet of cookie. . I am in Australia and wonder if our box cake mixes have a different amount of ingredients.
Do you have any suggestions please.
Hi Kate, that is so strange. I’ve never had that happen. Try making the balls and refrigerating for 20 minutes before baking and see if that helps.
I have made this recipe 3 times and each time they are a big hit! They taste so much like the creamsicle that I remember from years ago! So good, especially in the summer.
Thanks Jeri!
Hello I have made these cookies several times. They are delicious. I have also done them with lemon and strawberry cake mixes and they were all very good.

I just made the Creamsicle cookies for a bake sale. They came out perfect!!! I’m very pleased with the way they look, they smell delicious. I have celiac disease so I couldn’t taste them. But I’m sure they’re gonna be good.

Love love! Great recipe and easy to follow! Had a Xmas lunch for my girlfriends and made orange, lemon, cherry and coconut! They couldn’t make up their minds which ones they liked best! Thanks so much!
Saw this recipe on Pinterest. I made them at Christmas. My family absolutely loved them and everyone wanted the recipe. They really do taste like a creamsicle ice cream. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Karen!
I always go to your page for this recipe & make it several times a year (in lemon flavor vs orange). I have also done this with strawberry and orange. All loved, of course, but lemon takes the crown!
Glad you like the recipe Brianna. Thanks!
