Key Ingredients You’ll Need

Sugar: You will use this as well as corn syrup to add sweetness to the recipe.

Mini Pretzel Twists: Make this brittle have a little salty flavor by adding mini pretzel twists.

Baking Soda: This will add air to the mixture to make the brittle easier to break.

White Chocolate: You can use this or regular milk chocolate along with green food coloring gel to color it.

Red Heart Sprinkles: You can follow this link to find mini Grinch hearts.

How To Make Grinch Brittle

Step 1. In small dishes, measure out all the ingredients. You will need the ingredients to be added to the candy immediately because it will harden quickly. You will need them ready to go, so make sure to not skip this step. Add the sugar and corn syrup into a heat-safe medium-sized bowl and combine. Heat for 6 minutes on high in the microwave, mixing halfway through. Use parchment paper to line a cookie sheet and place it aside. Take out and put in the butter before heating for an additional minute.

Step 2. Take out and add in the pretzels, salt, and vanilla, and heat for another 15 seconds. Take out again and add in the baking soda and combine until light and foamy. Pour the mixture out onto the lined cookie sheet quickly and spread it into a thin layer using spoons or forks. Allow the mixture to set for 30 minutes to cool until hard to the touch. Put the chocolate in a heat-safe bowl and melt until smooth. Put in a couple of drops of green food coloring and combine until you reach the desired color.

Step 3. Drizzle the chocolate over the brittle with a spoon allowing the brittle to show through. Put little red hearts on top and press in slightly. Let it harden for 1 hour until fully set and cooled. Once cooled, break up, and serve. Enjoy!

How To Store Grinch Brittle?

Place the leftover brittle into an airtight container for the best storage method. You will want to use parchment paper or waxed paper to keep the brittle from sticking to each other. Store the brittle in a cool and dry place. This will last up to 10 days at room temperature.

Tips & Tricks

  • Make sure not to store this brittle anywhere near the stove or in the sunlight or it will melt and get sticky.
  • It’s best to use GEL food coloring for the candy so it blends easily.
  • If you want a cleaner brittle, you can cut the brittle into squares when it’s still a bit warm.

Instructions

  • First, measure out all your ingredients into small dishes you can pour into the Bowl of Candy because the Candy will begin to harden quickly, you’ll need the ingredients ready to go to follow the recipe, and won’t have time to get them together after you start.  DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP!
  • In a Microwave safe medium size bowl, add the Sugar, and Corn Syrup, and stir together.  Place in the Microwave for 6 minutes, on HIGH, stirring halfway through, at 3 minutes.  Line a Cookie sheet with Parchment Paper, and set it aside.   Remove from the Microwave, add the Butter, and Microwave for 1 minute. Remove Bowl, stir in Mini Pretzels, salt, and Vanilla, and Microwave for 15 seconds.
  • Remove Bowl, and stir in Baking Soda – the mixture will be light and foamy.  Quickly, pour the Brittle out onto the Parchment Paper lined Cookie sheet, and spread out into a thin layer with spoons, or forks – you’ll need two utensils to spread the Brittle.  Let the Brittle cool for about 30 minutes, and make sure the Brittle is set, or hard to the touch.
  • Melt the White Chocolate in the Microwave, and stir until smooth.  Add a few drops of the Green Food Coloring Gel, and stir until blended.  Add more if needed to achieve the green color   Using a Fork, or small spoon, drizzle the melted Chocolate over the Brittle, leaving enough space for the Brittle to show through the chocolate.
  • Add the Red Grinch Hearts, pressing them slightly into the Green chocolate.  Allow about an hour for the Chocolate to completely harden, and all ingredients to cool completely.   When Brittle is cool, Break it into pieces.  Serve, and Enjoy!
