- Bold and balanced flavors: This dish has incredibly balanced flavors and hits the perfect ratio of sweet and salty.
Recipe Ingredients
All you need is chicken and 4 easy ingredients to make this simple honey garlic chicken wing recipe. It’s one of my all-time favorites.
- Chicken wings: I like to use fresh chicken wings. Feel free to use frozen just be sure they are completely thawed first. Pat them dry with a paper towel before adding them to a slow cooker.
- Honey: The honey adds sweetness and makes the sauce nice and thick so it sticks to the wings.
- Soy sauce: For the umami and savory flavor, soy sauce is perfect. I like the low sodium variety but you can use regular as well.
- Garlic: I like to add garlic to so many recipes. It adds an intense and almost spicy flavor to dishes and it balances the sweetness perfectly.
- Brown Sugar: The combo of honey and brown sugar is perfect in this sauce. You can use light or dark brown sugar for a stronger molasses flavor.
How to Make Honey Garlic Wings

Tips and Variations
- Make it spicy. Add red pepper flakes or grated ginger to the sauce to add some heat.
- Make it sweeter. Use more brown sugar for more sweetness.
- Skip broiling. The broiling step is optional, the chicken will be fully cooked when it comes out of the crock pot.
- Try it with chicken thighs. Make this recipe with chicken thighs instead.
- Use a thermometer. If you’re unsure if the chicken wings are done, probe the thickest part of one of the wings with an instant-read thermometer. Chicken must be cooked to 165 degrees F internal temperature.
