This Irish Pasta Recipe is the perfect St. Patrick’s Day dinner. Heck, it’s a great dinner anytime! This is a great pasta recipe for the whole family and is a great one pot dish for a busy week night dinner.

Irish Pasta Recipe
This is a great dinner recipe to make for St Patrick’s Day that kids and adults will love. The peas give a nice green color to this dish and this pasta recipe is just a 10-minute prep! You’ll find yourself making this on a regular basis, it’s delicious! Finish the meal off with some Irish Bread Pudding.
This pasta recipe is similar to our Old-Fashioned American Goulash, but a big different and includes peas to look festive St Patrick’s Day.
Ingredients You Will Need:
- Macaroni – you will boil the noodles before simmering with the sauce. Penne is also a good choice.
- Ground Beef – we like to use 80/20. Ground turkey can also be used.
- Onion – you will need to dice the onion. If you have kids, I suggest finely dicing.
- Tomato – you will need a can of tomato sauce and and fire roasted diced tomatoes with garlic.
- Seasoning – garlic powder, thyme, salt and pepper.
- Peas – Frozen peas are used in this recipe. It takes a few minutes to thaw by running water over the peas.
How To Make Irish Pasta
- Sautee the ground beef and onions in a pan until cooked.
- Reduce the heat to low, and add in the seasonings, tomatoes, and tomato paste.
- Add your pasta and reserved water, toss to combine.
- Add the peas and lightly toss.
- Cover with a lid and cook for 7 minutes on low to medium heat.
- Enjoy!

Irish Pasta
Ingredients
- 3 cups macaroni
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 1 onion diced
- 4 oz tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp. Thyme
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. pepper
- 8 oz frozen peas
- 12 oz can diced fire roasted w/ garlic tomatoes
Instructions
- Boil the macaroni in water (according to package directions) until al dente and reserve one cup of pasta water.
- Place the frozen peas in a bowl to thaw, set to the side.
- In a large sauce pan over medium heat, begin to brown ground beef.
- Drain the excess juice off the meat and place it back in the pan. Add diced onions cook the mixture until the onions are translucent.
- Reduce the heat to low, and add in the seasonings, tomatoes, and tomato sauce.
- Add your pasta and reserved water, toss to combine.
- Add the peas and lightly toss.
- Cover with a lid and cook for 7 minutes on low to medium heat, making sure to stir frequently.
