Ready in just 35 minutes, this Sheet Pan Pizza is a quick, easy homemade pizza recipe the entire family will love. Make it even easier by using store-bought sauce and dough.

We’re huge pizza fans in this house and we make it at home just as often as we order out. This sheet pan pizza is my go-to when there’s a bigger group. Each pizza feeds 4 to 6 people and it’s easy to whip up 2 or 3 if needed. It’s fun to customize with different toppings each time we make it! This kind of pizza used to be referred to as “Lunch Lady Pizza” at schools.

Recipe Ingredients
Here’s an overview of the ingredients needed for this pizza recipe. Scroll down to the recipe card below for the exact measurements.
- Olive oil – For cooking the sausage and greasing the pan.
- Italian sausage – Use hot Italian sausage instead of sweet or mild for a spicier pizza. You can also substitute the pork sausage with turkey or chicken sausage.
- Pizza dough – Use my homemade pizza dough recipe or grab refrigerated dough at the store. If using store-bought dough, follow the instructions on the package for preparing to use the pizza dough.
- Cornmeal – Cornmeal helps prevent the dough from sticking to the pan. If you don’t have cornmeal, you can use semolina flour or use a little more olive oil.
- Pizza sauce – I like to use my homemade pizza sauce but jarred sauce works too.
- Mozzarella cheese – Because you can’t have pizza without cheese! A blend of mozzarella and provolone is another great option for added flavor.
More Topping Ideas
One of the best parts of homemade pizza is being able to customize it! I used sausage in this recipe but any pizza toppings work. Here are a few ideas:
- Meats – Sliced pepperoni, diced ham, ground burger, bacon, and chicken all make great pizza toppings. (Just make sure the meat is fully cooked ahead of time.)
- Veggies – Pretty much any veggies can be added to pizza. Think bell peppers, black olives, onions, jalapenos, broccoli, and more. Just make sure they’re diced or sliced into small pieces.
- Other toppings – Pineapple and mushrooms are two other popular toppings.
How To Make Sheet Pan Pizza
Here’s how to get this pizza on the table in just over 30 minutes. The printable instructions can be found in the recipe card below.

- Prep. Preheat the oven to 450F.
- Cook the sausage. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium. Cook the sausage for 5-6 minutes, breaking into small pieces. Drain any excess fat. Set aside.
- Roll the dough. Use the remaining olive oil to grease the sheet pan. Sprinkle the cornmeal across the pan. Roll the dough on a floured surface, gently stretching it to fit the sheet pan. If it resists, wait five minutes and try again.
- Assemble the pizza. Spread the sauce over the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle half the cheeze on the sauce, followed by the sausage, and the remaining cheese.
- Bake. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the crust is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and lightly golden. Let cool for 5 minutes then slice and serve.

Tips & Tricks
Here are a few tips to keep in mind when making sheet pan pizza.
- Use freshly shredded cheese. Shred a block of mozzarella yourself instead of using pre-shredded cheese, which often contains anti-caking agents that can affect melting.
- Don’t overload with toppings. While it’s fun to add multiple toppings, try not to completely cover the pizza with a bunch of different toppings. If it’s too weighed down, the crust won’t rise and bake properly, leaving the center mushy.
- Keep an eye on it while baking. When the sheet pan pizza is in the oven, keep an eye on the crust to ensure it’s not burning. We’re baking this at a pretty high temperature and every oven is different. Start checking around the 10 minute mark.
- Rest before slicing. Give the pizza 5-10 minutes to cool before slicing and serving. This gives the sauce and cheese time to solidify a bit. Besides, the cheese will be way to hot to eat immediately.

Proper Storage
- Fridge. Store leftover sheet pan pizza in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Reheat. Reheat slices in a 375°F (190°C) oven for 5-7 minutes, or until warmed through. Alternatively, use a skillet on medium heat for a crispier crust.

- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese divided

- Evenly layer the cooked sausage over the cheese layer.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
