Made with just 3 ingredients, this Strawberry Lemonade is the perfect drink for summer. It’s a little sweet, a little tart, and so refreshing. It’s a great way to use fresh strawberries too!

I love making homemade lemonade during the summer months. I never, ever buy the packaged powdered anymore, after I figured out how easy it was to make from scratch (and how much better it tasted). But even more than that, I love incorporating other summer flavors into my lemonade, like blueberry lemonade and now this strawberry lemonade.
Why I Love Making This Strawberry Lemonade
- Only 3 ingredients. Sugar, lemon juice, and strawberries are the only ingredients in this recipe! (Plus water, of course.) It’s so simple to whip up!
- Tart & sweet. I find that this strawberry lemonade offers the perfect balance of tart and sweet flavors. The simple syrup added helps to balance the tartness of the strawberries and lemons without making it too sweet.
- Refreshing in summer. I love making this in the summer. It’s such a light and refreshing drink on a hot day. Plus, it’s a great way to use fresh strawberries!

Recipe Ingredients
Homemade strawberry lemonade is made with very basic ingredients. Scroll down to the recipe card below for the measurements.
- Sugar – To make the simple syrup.
- Water – Smple syrup is made with equal parts water and sugar. You’ll also need additional cold water to dilute the lemonade.
- Lemon juice – Freshly squeezed lemon juice is key to homemade lemonade. One cup of juice usually requires 4-6 lemons.
- Fresh strawberries – Hull and halve.
How To Make Strawberry Lemonade
The simple syrup needs about 30 minutes to cool but otherwise, it takes just a few minutes of prep to make this recipe. The printable instructions can be found in the recipe card below.

- Make the simple syrup. Combine the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and stir to dissolve the sugar. Let cool for 30 minutes.
- Prep the strawberries & lemons. Blend the strawberries with a bit of water to create a smooth puree. Juice the lemons to get 1 cup of juice.
- Combine. Stir the cooled syrup, lemon juice, strawberry puree, and 4 cups of cold water together in a pitcher.
- Taste test. Give it a taste and add more lemon juice if it’s too sweet or more sugar or water if it’s too tart.
- Enjoy. Garnish with lemon slices, whole strawberries, and mint leaves as desired. Serve cold over ice.

Tips & Tricks
Below are a few things I’ve found helpful when making this strawberry lemonade recipe.
- Strain the strawberries and lemons. For a smoother lemonade, strain the strawberry puree through fine mesh. You can also do the same with the lemon juice to remove any seeds and excess pulp.
- Adjust the sweetness. I always like to give the lemonade a taste after combining all the ingredients. Sometimes I’ll want to add a bit more water or a pinch of sugar to mellow out the tart flavor. Other times, an extra squeeze of lemon juice helps balance the sweetness.
- Make the simple syrup ahead. Be sure to let the simple syrup cool to room temperature before adding it to the lemonade. It can also be made up to a week in advance and kept in a glass jar in the fridge.
- Add some mint. For a refreshing twist, I’ll sometimes muddle some fresh mint in the pitcher or individual glasses. It makes a great garnish too!
- Turn it into a cocktail. Pour in some vodka to the strawberry lemonade mixture for the adults!

Can This Be Prepared In Advance?
Yes, you can prep a pitcher of strawberry lemonade and keep it in the fridge for 1-2 days. I recommend waiting until right before serving to add any garnishes.
