Anyone who loves Twinkies is going to love this easy to make Twinkie Cake recipe. With a vanilla cake, homemade vanilla frosting and then a pourable frosting to decorate the sides. The cake is topped with Twinkies with layers of Twinkies inside.
Twinkie Cake Recipe

Ingredients
- Vanilla cake mix- Cake mix saves time when making this cake.
- Egg – You want to use egg whites and not the whole egg.
- Water- Water is used in the cake mix.
- Canola oil- Vegetable oil will also work.
- Unsalted butter- Use room temperature butter
- Powdered sugar- Powdered sugar is used to make the frosting
- Heavy whipping cream- Heavy cream is used to thin the frosting to the right consistency.
- Vanilla extract- Use pure vanilla extract instead of imitation for the best flavor.
- Vanilla premade frosting- This frosting will be melted and poured over the cake.
- Twinkies- Twinkies are used for topping the cake.
How to Make a Twinkie Cake
Use a mixer and beat together the cake ingredients.
Divide the smooth cake batter into the 3 pans and bake for 28 minutes in a preheated 350 degree oven.
Cool the cakes completely before removing it from the cake pans.
While the cake is cooling, make the frosting by beating the ingredients together until it forms stiff peaks.
Scoop about 1 cup of frosting into a piping bag.
Prepare the Twinkies by cutting them into chunks and them cut a few more in half.
Place the first cake layer on the cake board and scoop the frosting onto the layer and smooth it out.
Drip the melted frosting over the edges of the cake and then place dollops of frosting along the cake.

Twinkie Layered Cake
Ingredients
Vanilla Cake
- 2 boxes Vanilla cake mix
- 6 large Egg whites
- 2 C water
- 1 C canola oil
- 3 - 9 inch round cake pans
- 1 - 10 inch round cake board
Vanilla Frosting
- 3 C unsalted butter softened
- 6 C powdered sugar
- 5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 small container of Vanilla premade frosting
- 1 medium piping bag with star tip
- 1 squeeze bottle
- 1 box of twinkies
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 and spray cake pans with pam baking spray
- Using a hand mixer and large bowl, beat all cake ingredients until
- combined and smooth
- Divide the cake batter into the 3 cake pans
- Place into the oven and back for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick
- comes out clean
- Allow to cool completely
Frosting directions
- Using a standing mixer, beat all ingredients until combined and smooth
- but stiff with peaks
- Scoop 1 C into the piping bag with star tip
- Cut about 3 twinkies in chunks and set aside
- Cut about 3-4 twinkies in half for topping decorations
Building the Cake directions :
- Place one cake layer onto the cake board and cut the dome off the cake
- to make an even layer
- Repeat step with other two layers
- Scoop 1 C of white frosting onto the bottom layer and spread evenly
- Evenly spread some chopped twinkies onto the layer of frosting and
- lightly press into the frosting
- Place the second cake layer on top and spread evenly 1 more cup of
- frosting and evenly spread remaining chopped twinkies onto the
- frosting layer
- Place the last layer of cake on top
- Use the remaining white frosting and frost entire cake
- Remove the film from the vanilla frosting container and place into the
- microwave for about 30 - 45 seconds or until almost a thick liquid.
- Pour some of the frosting into the squeeze bottle
- Using the squeeze bottle, pipe drips along the side of the cake
- Using the piping bag, pipe dollops of frosting onto the top of the cake
- Place the cut twinkies in between each dollop of frosting
