While I love making festive recipes, many of my Halloween recipes fall on the sweet side. I alawys take the opportunity to make a savory holiday recipe when I can and these mummy hot dogs are honestly one of my favorites. With just 3 ingredients, they’re super simple to make and a huge hit with the kids.

- Kid-approved. When my kids were little, I always tried to make some sort of themed recipe for every holiday. Serving this mummy dogs for Halloween lunch (or dinner) became a favorite family tradition. I think the only thing kids love more than hot dogs is hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls!

- Crescent rolls – Cut into strips and used to wrap the hot dogs.
- Hot dogs – Any full-size hot dogs work great.
- Edible eyeballs – These can usually be found in most grocery stores or craft stores.
How To Make Mummy Hot Dogs
These are so quick and easy to make! The printable instructions can be found in the recipe card below.
- Prep. Preheat the air fryer to 350F for 5 minutes. Unroll the crescent roll dough then separate into triangles, and slice each triangle into 1/4 inch wide strips.
- Wrap the hot dogs. Wrap each hot dog with crescent roll strips, leaving a gap for the face. Repeat until all hot dogs are covered.
- Air fry. Place the mummy dogs in the air fryer basket. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Add the eyes. Let the mummy dogs cool slightly then add the edible eyeballs with a tiny bit of mustard or ketchup.
Serving Suggestions
These mummy hot dogs make a great lunch or dinner for the kids on Halloween. They’re also an excellent addition to any Halloween party. I like to serve them with other spooky dishes, like zombie cake cups, meringue ghosts, and Halloween puppy chow.
How To Store Leftovers
- Fridge. While mummy hot dogs are best enjoyed immediately, leftovers can be stored in an airtght container in the fridge. Enjoy within 2 days.
- Reheat. Reheat in the microwave or air fryer until hot. Keep in mind that the eyeball may melt off and the crescent roll strips won’t be as flaky.
Mummy Hot Dogs
Ingredients
- 8 ounces Crescent roll dough
- 8 Hot dogs
- candy eyeballs
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles.
- Using a knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle into thin strips (about 1/4 inch wide).
- Take one hot dog and start wrapping it with a crescent roll strip, leaving a small gap for the face. Continue wrapping until the hot dog is covered, resembling a mummy.
- Repeat with the remaining hot dogs and crescent roll strips.
- Air Fry the Mummy Dogs: Place the wrapped hot dogs in the air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
- Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the mummy dogs from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.
- Place the edible eyeballs in the gap you left for the face. If needed, you can use a tiny bit of mustard or ketchup to help the eyeballs stick.
- Serve the mummy dogs warm with your favorite dipping sauces like ketchup or mustard.
