  • Salt
  • Milk – I used whole milk, but you can use skim, 1%, or 2% instead.
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Powdered sugar – the powdered sugar when mixed with milk will create a glaze for the cinnamon roll.

Variations

  • Brown Sugar – Instead of granulated sugar, you can sprinkle brown sugar over the dough with cinnamon.
  • Nutmeg – Sprinkle a small pinch of ground nutmeg over the cinnamon for a little extra flavor. Don’t add too much; the flavor is strong!
  • Cream Cheese Frosting – Whip together 2 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1 tablespoon softened butter and 1/4 cup powdered sugar to make an easy cream cheese frosting.

We made a tester of a cinnamon roll and did everything the same but put it in the microwave first, and it didn’t really work. Instead, we cut up the actual cinnamon roll, and put it in the toaster oven for 8 minutes and it worked way better.

I haven’t tried the toaster oven June but thanks for the alternate method.

Made the cinnamon roll in a mug tonight. My son, who has intellectual delays, is a cinnamon roll fanatic. But he helped and was so proud of himself – great, easy recipe. And, more importantly, he loved it!

I made these for the first time today! I doubled the recipe and made 2
I wanted them to be more brown so I popped them in the oven at 350 for 5 minutes. Next time I think that I’ll just bake them in the oven. I haven’t tasted them yet!
