Easy Air Fryer Donuts

One of our most popular recipes is our Easy Canned Biscuit Donuts which are baked in the oven. Everyone just loves them and it’s just as easy. This is just a different version that takes less cooking time.

If you do not currently own an air fryer, let this be the recipe that convinces you to buy one. The air fryer uses convection to circulate hot air around whatever you put inside so your favorite fried food recipes can now be made without the Frying and less guilt! We LOVE ours and have made so many awesome recipes like our popular Air Fryer Apple Fries and Air Fryer Jalapeño Bacon Cheese Balls.

Ingredients Needed

You only need 4-ingredients!

  • Biscuit Dough – I like to use Pillsbury Grands biscuits (Southern Style of Flaky).
  • Coating – a mixture of ground cinnamon and sugar is used to cover the biscuits after they are air fried.
  • Butter – melted butter is used to cover the biscuits for the cinnamon sugar mixture to stick.

How To Make Donuts In An Air Fryer

By using the air fryer, this only takes about 5-minutes of prep and 10-minutes of cooking time – So easy!

  • Preheat air fryer to 360 degrees. To do this, simply turn your air fryer on at 330 degrees and let it run for about 3-5 minutes.
  • Mix together the cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
  • Cut the center out of each biscuit using a round cookie cutter. Lightly coat air fryer basket with cooking spray (like coconut oil spray).

  • Place the donuts (not holes), in a single layer of your air fryer and bake for 5 minutes at 360 degrees. As the doughnuts are cooking, melt the butter.
  • Coat the baked doughnuts with your melted butter and cover the donuts with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Serve and enjoy!

How To Make Air Fryer Donut Holes

When you air fry the “holes”, set your timer for 3 minutes and repeat the process of dipping in butter and then adding the cinnamon and sugar mixture.

Optional Topping

If you are a bigger fan of chocolate glaze instead of the cinnamon sugar coating, we got you covered!

Chocolate Glaze Recipe

Once cooked, dip the donuts in chocolate glaze.

  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Melt the ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring. Dip the donuts in the chocolate glaze or spread the glaze on top of the donuts using a knife.

Tips

Storing – Store the air fried donuts in an airtight container to keep them from going stale for 3-4 days.

Cooking spray – I recommend using coconut oil spray. Do not use non-stick spray like Pam (those sprays could be harmful to your air fryer).

Optional toppings – Feel free to change the cinnamon sugar coating to any other toppings you prefer. Use the chocolate glaze recipe we provided above or just make a simple vanilla glaze by mixing powdered sugar and milk. You can frost the tops using Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting, Chocolate Buttercream Frosting, Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, Peanut Butter Frosting or Cream Cheese Frosting.

They don’t look like the picture because of the biscuit flaking. But they still taste good.

Cut the biscuits into 3 pieces and stretched/twisted them into donut sticks. Still 3minutes cook time. Sprinkled half with cinnamon powdered sugar.

I have an air fryer part in my oven. How would I do it in there.

    1. Donna says:

I just made in my oven fryer and it only has 1 setting 400. So I set it for 5 minutes to warm up them popped them in for 5 minutes
I took a look and they still needed more time so I set the timer for 2-3 more minutes and waited till they were turning brown on top. That’s it

  10. jeffra says:

They turned out really good but 5 minutes is not nearly enough time to get them completely done so I suggest to put it on like 7 minutes and see that gets them completely done it also has a little bit of a doughy taste but my kids love them so I’ll definitely try them again
