Ingredients

  • Broth– Use chicken broth for this recipe.
  • Soup– Use both cream of chicken and cream of celery for this recipe.
  • Carrots– Use frozen sliced carrots.
  • Chicken– Use shredded or chopped chicken for this recipe. (rotisserie works really well)
  • Onion Powder- Use this for additional flavoring.
  • Garlic Powder– Use this to add aroma to your dish.
  • Salt– Use this to bring out the flavors in the recipe.
  • Pepper– Use this for taste.
  • Tortilla– Use flour tortillas for the best results.
  • Milk– Use whole or 2% for this recipe.

How to Make Chicken and Dumplings

To start, pour the broth into a large heavy bottom pot or a dutch oven. Set the temperature to medium.

Secondly, add in the cream of chicken and cream of celery soup and whisk to combine. Allow the mixture to heat until it comes to a simmer. (about 10 minutes)

Thirdly, add in the frozen carrots, chicken, onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper and mix to combine and bring to a boil.

Next, use a pizza cutter to cut the flour tortillas into 1-inch squares.

Afterward, add them into the soup carefully and use a spoon to press them down and mix gently. (this will avoid tearing)

In addition, allow the recipe to reach a boil and then turn the heat down to simmer for 15 minutes.

To finish, turn off the heat and add in the milk gently.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 – 10 ounce can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 – 10 ounce can cream of celery soup
  • 2 cups of frozen sliced carrots
  • 2 cups chicken chopped or shredded (rotisserie works really well)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  • Place the chicken broth into a dutch oven or large heavy bottom pot. Turn the heat on to medium.
  • Whisk in the cream of chicken soup and the cream of celery soup. Allow this to simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the frozen carrots, chicken, onion powder, garlic, salt, and pepper. Bring this to a boil.
  • Cut the tortillas into 1” squares, using a pizza cutter.
  • Gently add the tortillas to the soup. Press them down but do not stir vigorously as they will tear.
  • Bring to a boil again, then reduce heat, and allow to simmer for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat. Gently stir in the milk.

    This recipe is awesome. My grandmother used to make her dumplings with flour tortillas. I would recommend if you do not like a heavy pepper or would prefer more bland food that you use unseasoned rotisserie chicken. This recipe is very easy to make.

    Very quick, easy, and delicious! I doubled the recipe except for the tortillas. I used 8. I love me some dumplings! I also used carb healthy tortillas.
