  • Vanilla extract- Use pure vanilla for the best flavoring.

Additional Mix-in Ideas

These Christmas bars are perfect the way they are but sometimes you may want to switch things up or may prefer other mix-ins.

  • Nuts- Chopped pecans or peanuts would work well in these bars.
  • Chips- Use other types of chips like peanut butter, butterscotch chips or white chocolate chips.
  • Oreos- crushed Oreos would be a great mix-in.

How To Store Christmas Cookie Bars

These Christmas Cookie Bars can be left out at room temperature for up to week. Be sure to seal in an airtight container to keep them from getting too hard. These bars also do well in the freezer and will keep for up to 2 months.

These bars were amazing! So rich and chocolaty(sp?). These will be a get together favorite from now on.

Can you form these into balls and bake like a normal cookie, instead of cooking all together in a pan?

    1. Hi Margot. I haven’t tried that with this recipe because we have so many other specific cookie recipes that are similar. I would think this recipe should work well as cookies but just watch the baking time.

    1. Hi Dana. Sometimes that feature doesn’t work exactly right. When doubling this recipe, I would still recommend using two 9×9’s. If tripling, you could use two 9×13’s.

We loved these cookie bars but I cut the candy and sprinkles in half! We didn’t like them so stuffed. Makes a beautiful holiday treat.
