Christmas Peppermint Cake

This Candy Cane Bundt Cake is so delicious! The cake is so moist, minty, and sweet with a tasty frosting on top. This dessert will be an excellent treat to share with your friends and family. Be sure to save this to your favorites!

Bundt cakes are such a fun and unique twist on a traditional cake. Depending on what type of Bundt pan you use, you can come up with some pretty spectacular desserts! Ingredients

  • White cake mix- This will help with the process of the recipe.
  • Egg whites- You will need to use room temperature eggs for this recipe.
  • Milk- You will need to use whole milk for this recipe.
  • Butter- You will need to use unsalted butter to control the amount of salt in the recipe.
  • Peppermint extract- You should use the pure extract for the best flavoring.
  • Red food dye- This will be used for the red color of the cake.
  • Cream cheese- You will need to use softened or room temperature.
  • Powdered sugar- This sugar is the best for homemade frostings.
  • Heavy whipping cream- This will be used to help with the consistency of your frosting.
  • Peppermint candy- You’re going to need to crush the candies for the top of the cake.

How to Make Peppermint Cake

Set your oven to 350 degrees and use Pam to spray a Bundt pan evenly.

Add the cake mix, egg whites, milk, extract, and butter into a bowl and use a hand mixer to beat until combined and smooth.

Use a scooper to add 1 1/2 C of batter into a small bowl and add a few drops of food dye and mix to combine.

Put half of the white batter into the prepared pan.

Then, add dollops of the red batter on top of the white and use a knife to swirl.

Then, add the rest of the white batter on top of the red.

Add the rest of the red batter on top of the white and use a knife to swirl again.

Put in the oven and bake for 30-45 minutes or until a tester placed in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Take out the cake and allow it to cool before putting on a wire rack.

Frosting

Add the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, extract, and whipping cream and use a hand mixer to beat until combined and smooth.

If the mixture is too thick then add a few tbsp. of cream until it is thinner and smooth.

Add on top of the finished cake.

Add some of the crushed candies on top of the icing.

Let the icing on top too firm before enjoying!

Do This Use Real Candy Canes?

For this Candy Cane Bundt Cake, you will use real crushed candies on the top of the cake. You will also be using peppermint extract for this recipe. This will give you the flavor of candy canes.

Can I Make This in a Traditional Cake Pan?

You can use a traditional cake pan for this Bundt cake. However, depending on the size you use will depend on the measurement of ingredients. For this recipe, all amounts will fit the pan used in the recipe.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 boxes white cake mix
  • 6 large egg whites
  • 2 C whole Milk
  • 1 C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
  • 1 tbsp pure peppermint extract
  • Red food dye
  • 9 in bundt cake

Peppermint Frosting

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ¼ C unsalted sweet cream butter softened
  • 2 C powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp pure peppermint extract
  • 3-5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 1 C crushed peppermint candy

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray a Bundt cake pan with Pam baking spray
  • Using a hand mixer, beat together the cake mix, egg whites, milk, peppermint extract and unsalted butter until combined and smooth
  • Scoop 1 ½ C of the cake batter into a small bowl and mix in a few drops of red food dye
  • Pour half of the white batter into the bundt cake pan
  • Drop dollops of the red cake batter into the white and swirl with a knife
  • Pour the remaining white batter onto the top of the red
  • Drop dollops of the remaining red batter onto the white and swirl again
  • Bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean
  • Allow to cool completely before moving to a wire rack

Peppermint Frosting Directions

  • Using a hand mixer, beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, peppermint extract and the heavy whipping cream until combined and smooth
  • If the frosting is thick, beat in a few more tbsp of heavy whipping cream until your frosting is smooth and thin
  • Pour over the bundt cake
  • Sprinkle the crushed peppermint candy
  • Allow the frosting to firm up before serving!
