Steak Bites with Mushrooms

This is a delicious and flavorful dinner you can enjoy any day of the week. It is so simple to whip together and it comes out so tender. This is one of my favorite dishes to prepare because it always impresses guests. It is the perfect meal when you want steak but don’t have time to stand over the grill or stove. this recipe gives you tender steak bites even on busy weeknights packed with activities.

Key Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Beef: I like to use cubed stew beef for this recipe, but you can use any kind that you prefer.
  • Vegetables: I like to use a blend of mushrooms, white onion, and garlic for more flavor along with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Broth: I like to use beef broth, but you can use vegetable broth if needed.

How To Make Crockpot Steak Bites

Step 1. Add the stew beef into a large skillet on medium-high heat. Cook the beef enough to get color, you don’t need to worry about cooking all the way through. Put the stew beef, mushrooms, onion, butter, garlic, beef broth, salt, and pepper into the slow cooker and combine.

Step 2. Place the lid on top and cook for 6 hours on low or 4 hours on high. You can serve right from the crockpot or add to a heated skillet and sear it to your liking. Serve and enjoy!

Variations For Crockpot Beef Tips with Mushrooms

You can use some of the suggestions below to alter the recipe to your liking.

  • Add any kind of seasoning you prefer. Thyme or rosemary sprigs would be delicious.
  • Adding in a bit of Worcheshire sauce will deepen the color of the recipe and make it taste all the more delicious.
  • I love mushrooms with my steak, but you can leave them out if you prefer.
  • Rather than using stew beef, just cut up round steak.
  • Sirloin Steak – Sirloin steak is also a delicious meat to use for this recipe. Plus you can always find a good deal on this cut of meat.

  • Freezing – Keep stored in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight.

Good flavor, but I think next time I will cut back on the butter.
    A little greasy!

Looks delicious! I don’t have a crock pot, so how long would you bake this or cook on the stovetop?

    1. Jill says:

Hi Chris. If you are not using a crock pot, I would make everything on the stovetop. Start off with the steak in a skillet and then cover when done. Slice your mushrooms and add with all the other ingredients in a large skillet or Dutch oven and cook until tender. Combine with the steak and let cook together.
