Fluffernutter Sandwich

The thing about this type of sandwich, is that it meant to be messy! At least in my eyes, it is. A good fluffernutter always has marshmallow cream oozing out the sides and often requires a good hand wash after you’ve eaten it.

What Is A Fluffernutter?

A fluffernutter is a sandwich that is made with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff spread onto bread. You can think of it like this: the ‘fluffer’ is marshmallow fluff and the ‘nutter’ is peanut butter.

Many people adore this sandwich but in New England, it is a staple for most. There is even a town in Massachusetts that celebrates annually with a What the Fluff? festival!

Here Is How To Make One

First, grab the ingredients:

  • Bread (typically a soft, white bread is what is preferred, but any will do)
  • Creamy Peanut Butter
  • Marshmallow Cream (cream and fluff are typically used interchangeably.)

Then, spread both onto bread, squish together and enjoy! It is really simple.

You Can Also Make A Grilled Fluffernutter

To make the warm version of this sandwich, spread a little butter on the outside of the bread and heat it in a skillet or panini press. Be prepared for sticky fingers!

Serve your delicious sandwich for a fun snack or lunch with maybe a side of fresh fruit or potato chips. You may want to grab a glass of milk to wash it down as well! Enjoy.

Spread soft butter on bread first, then spread marshmellow cream, prevents tearing of bread. Takes an extra step with excellent results.

  2. I just think this is funny. Grew up with fluffernutters. I thought everyone ate them until I moved to California and my neighbors thought I was a little crazy for feeding them to my kids.

You can use marshmallow crème but it is not as good as fluff which is much thicker as well. It is a must for lunch along with Stateline potato chips.

  4. Grands love Fluff on Peanut Butter! My tip is I warm the knife under warm water so the Fluff doesn’t tear the bread and spreads easier
