Rum and Coke Popsicles
We have a ton of awesome Summer Cocktails that we hope you check out. I am excited to try other frozen cocktail recipes. The great thing about this one is that it’s only just a few ingredients!
Ingredients You Will Need:
(full amounts in recipe box below)
- Coke
- Rum
- Kahlua
- Popsicle Molds
- Wooden Popsicle Sticks

Have you ever had a Dirty Pirate? It’s a cocktail that’s made with Coca-Cola, Kahlua, and Rum. It’s a twist on the popular rum and Coke, and the Kahlua gives it an awesome flavor. You can always use any type of rum, but we like to make this with Captain Morgan…

Can I change the ingredients?
- Use coconut rum instead of spiced rum
- You can leave the Kahlua out
- Use Jack Daniel’s instead of Rum
You will also want to make sure your Coke is flat. Unscrew the cap the night before and let it sit to get all of the carbonation out.

I’ll have to try these! Thanks for the recipe! Could you come up with a simple margarita popsicle recipe?
Can I use VODKA. HAVEN’T DRANK RUM IN MORE THAN 20 YEARS
I’ve never had that and not sure how it would taste, but let me know how it turns out if you try it.
If done in a larger quantity, could it be done as a slush?
LARGER quantity? See my post. I got drunk on four popsicles. So no doubt you can make slushies – just use at your own risk.
Anxious to try this. I’m using root beer per someone else’s suggestion. Im hoping that goes well with Kahlua. Rum goes well with everything.
How does the alcohol freeze?
Rum freezes at -27°C (-17°F). You need a very cold freezer. Colder than mine. But even my lame freezer does a good job – but the popsicles melt fast. I learned to eat them over the sink!
If we leave out the Kahlua, do we increase the rum to have the same booze to sofa ratio?
Love all the summer recipes”
Hi Jill~
They look delicious!!! I thought alcohol doesn’t freeze, I’m surprised this works?!
It will freeze when mixed with something else, like come or water etc.
It will when mixed with another liquid such as come or water etc.
Can you make these in popsicle bags?
I have not done this, but i’m sure that would work out great. Let me know if you try it.
Can we use Diet Coke?
I have never tried that. Probably wouldn’t taste as good, but then again…I don’t like diet coke. If you try it, let me know how it turns out.
i did not see anything about diet coke……. the only reason for letting it sit overnight. is not to make it diet…. it is to have NO carbonation…… it will still have SUGAR.
Ginnu, I’m sure Laura understands that leaving it open removes carbonation and not sugar. Most people would realize that’s how it works. She was only offering up the suggestion of making the pops with a sugar-free substitute. Perhaps she’s diabetic and still wants to try the recipe.
Ginnu, Laura was asking about if she can use diet coke as a substitution to regular coke.
Sounds good will have to try it!
I assume you mean 1/4 CUP of Captain Morgan – or do you want me to pour 1/4 of the bottle in the mix?
Hi Shannon! 1/4 cup…sorry about that. Just updated. Thanks for letting me know.
It says 1/4 cup of rum.
