Triple Chocolate Cake

This chocolate cake is so delicious and delectable. This recipe contains 3 types of chocolate to make the cake just melt in your mouth. This recipe is filled with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, and white chocolate. This cake is sure to be the talk of the household when you bake it. It will fill your house with an incredible aroma and have your mouth watering. Ingredients

  • Flour- Use all-Purpose flour for the best results.
  • Salt- This will bring out the flavors in the recipe.
  • Baking Powder- This will allow the cake to rise in the oven.
  • Butter- Use unsalted to control the amount of salt in the recipe.
  • Canola Oil- Use vegetable oil as a substitute.
  • Sugar- Every dessert recipe uses sugar as an ingredient.
  • Eggs- Use these at room temperature.
  • Vanilla– Use pure extract for the best flavoring.
  • Buttermilk- Use milk with a bit of vinegar as a substitute.
  • Chocolate- You will need Dark, Milk, and White chocolate.
  • Powdered Sugar- This is the best sugar for homemade icing.
  • Chocolate Chips- You will need milk chocolate for this recipe.
  • Heavy Whipping Cream- This will help with the consistency of the ganache.

How to Make Triple Chocolate Cake

Start the recipe by setting the oven to 350 degrees, then using Pam baking spray, grease 3, 9-inch round cake pans.
Next, combine the salt, flour, and baking powder into a large bowl and whisk to combine.
One at a time, add in the eggs and vanilla and beat to combine.
Switching back between the ingredients, add in the flour and then pour in the buttermilk, and continue to combine after each addition.
Portion out the batter into three separate bowls.
In one bowl, you will add in the dark chocolate.
In the next bowl, you will add in the milk chocolate.
Finally, in the third bowl, you add in the white chocolate.
Then, portion out the batter into each of the prepared cake pans.
Place the cake pans into the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until you place a toothpick into the center of each cake and it comes out clean.
Remove the cakes from the oven and set them aside to allow them to cool thoroughly.

Chocolate Ganache Directions :

Pour the heavy whipping cream into a small pot and heat until it begins to simmer.
Next, place the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and pour the cream over it.
Let the two ingredients, sit for about two minutes before combining until smooth and fully melted.
Bring over your squeeze bottle and pour the mixture into it and set aside for later.

Frosting Directions :

Begin your frosting, by putting the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and whipping cream into the bowl of a standing mixture and beat until smooth and creamy.
Separate the frosting into three separate bowls.
Then, mix in each of the chocolates to separate bowls. Place the Dark chocolate in one bowl, the Milk Chocolate in the next bowl, and white chocolate going in the third and final bowl.

Assemble the cake:

Now, it’s time to finally assemble the cake. Take all of the cake layers out from the pans, and place them on cake boards.
Take the domes off the top of the cakes using a cake leveler.
Using a cake leveler to cut the dome off the cake.
You’re going to start off with the dark chocolate layer first and add about 1/3 of the dark chocolate frosting onto that layer and use a spatula to spread out evenly.

Next, you’re going to place the milk chocolate layer on top of the dark chocolate frosting.
Then, you will add 1/3 of the milk chocolate frosting and spread it out evenly onto the milk chocolate layer using a spatula.

You will continue this by adding the third and final layer of cake and adding a third of the frosting on top.

Any frosting that you have leftover, will be placed in separate piping bags. Then, cutting the tips off of each of them.
Using the dark chocolate piping bag. You will place two rings on the outer edge of the cake.
Then, you will continue this step with some milk chocolate and white chocolate frosting.
Smooth out all the frosting using a cake scraper.
Now, grab the squeeze bottle from earlier and squeeze out the chocolate ganache all over the top edge of the cake and let it drip down the edges.
Next, you’re going to pipe dollops of the remaining frosting on top of the finished cake.
To finish off the cake, you will sprinkle it with some chocolate curls on the top.

What can I use instead of buttermilk?

Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/2 C flour
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 C unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 C canola oil
  • 1 C sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 1/2 C Dark chocolate melted and cooled
  • 1/2 C milk chocolate melted and cooled
  • 1/2 C white chocolate melted and cooled

Triple Chocolate Frosting ingredients:

  • 3 C unsalted butter softened
  • 6 C powder sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 3-5 tbsp heavy whipping cream
  • 3/4 C dark chocolate melted and cooled
  • 3/4 C milk chocolate melted and cooled
  • 3/4 C white chocolate melted and cooled

Chocolate Ganache Ingredients :

  • 1 C milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 C heavy whipping cream

Instructions

Cake directions :

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray three 9in a round cake pan with baking spray
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder
  • Using a standing mixer, beat together until creamy the butter, oil, and sugar for about 3 minutes
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time until combined
  • Beat in the vanilla extract
  • Alternating between the two, add in the flour and buttermilk and continue to mix until combined after each addition
  • Divide the batter into three bowls
  • Mix in the cooled dark chocolate into one bowl
  • Mix the milk chocolate into the second bowl
  • Mix the white chocolate into the third bowl
  • Pour each batter into one of the cake pans
  • Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center
  • Allow cooling completely

Chocolate Ganache Directions :

  • Using a small pot, heat up the heavy whipping cream until simmering
  • Pour the chocolate chips into a heat-safe bowl and pour the hot heavy whipping cream over it
  • Allow sitting for 2 minutes before whisking until smooth
  • Pour into a squeeze bottle

Frosting Directions :

  • Using a standing mixer, beat the butter, powder sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream until creamy and smooth
  • Divide the batter into three bowls.
  • Mix in the cooled dark chocolate into one bowl
  • Mix the milk chocolate into the second bowl
  • Mix the white chocolate into the third bowl

Assemble the cake:

  • Using 10in cake rounds, Remove cake layers from cake pans and place them on cake boards
  • Using a cake leveler, remove the domes from the top of the cakes
  • Starting with the dark chocolate cake layer first, scoop out 1/3 of the dark chocolate frosting onto the top of the dark chocolate layer and spread evenly
  • Place the milk chocolate cake layer on top of the dark chocolate
  • Scoop out 1/3 of the milk chocolate frosting onto the milk chocolate cake layer and spread evenly
  • Place the white chocolate cake layer on top of the milk chocolate frosting
  • Repeat steps with 1/3 of the white chocolate frosting
  • Scoop the remaining icing into their own piping bags
  • Cut the tip off the piping bags
  • Using the dark chocolate one first, pipe two rings around the outer edge of the cake
  • Repeat steps with the milk chocolate and white chocolate
  • Using a cake scraper, smooth out the frosting
  • Using the chocolate ganache, pipe the ganache all around the top edge of the cake and allow it to drop down the sides.
  • Using the remaining frosting in the piping bags, pipe dollops of the 3 different frostings around the top
  • Sprinkle chocolate curls around the top
