Easy Valentine Crinkle Cookies

This recipe is a fun spin on the classic cake mix cookies. We love making cookies using cake mix! The cookie always turns out super soft and there are so many fun flavors and options.

There are just 5 ingredients in this Valentine cake mix cookie recipe, making them really simple to make. Once they come out of the oven, just place the chocolate heart on top!

Ingredients Needed

You need just 4 main ingredients with the addition of sanding sugar for coating which is optional (get the full amounts in the recipe card below).

  • White Cake Mix – and brand is fine to use.
  • Wet ingredients – vegetable oil and eggs.
  • Sugar – you will need sanding sugar to roll the cookies in. This has a larger granule and adds a nice texture. Regular granulated sugar will work fine as well.
  • Chocolate Hearts – You can find chocolate hearts in the Valentine’s Day section at any grocery store.

Not Just for Valentine’s Day! You can use this cookie recipe throughout the year, exchanging the heart for a Hershey kiss or another favorite chocolate. There is no way I’m going to be able to keep myself from only making these once a year! You can even use silicone molds and melting chocolate to make all sorts of fun toppers.

Sizing – make sure the balls of dough are the same size ensuring that each cookie is baked evenly.

Flavor options – consider using any other cake mix flavors like strawberry, chocolate, cherry, etc…

  1. These are really good but using that much dough for each cookies only gives you 12 cookies. I would suggest using 1 1/2 T. per cookie.
