No Bake Chocolate Banana Cream Pie

This banana cream chocolate pie is so delicious and simple to make. It starts with a store bought graham cracker crust and topped with a layer of melted chocolate. Then topped with a layer of sliced bananas, vanilla pudding and whipped cream. It’s super easy and impressive!

We’re using a premade graham cracker crust which makes this such an easy no bake dessert. However, if you choose to make your own, that is fine as well (we give you some options below).

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Milk: You can use whole or 2% milk.
  • Butter: It is best to use unsalted butter for this recipe. Using unsalted butter will give you control of the flavoring in the recipe. This will allow the rawest and most natural flavor to come out in the recipe.
  • Graham Cracker Pie Crust: I love using premade pies because it saves a bunch of time. However, you can make your own homemade pie with a few simple ingredients.
  • Bananas: Bananas will be sliced into pieces and used as an additional layer to add a soft and lovely texture.
  • Instant Vanilla: You can use instant vanilla to add flavor to the pie. You can also use banana pudding mix as a good secondary option.
  • Whipped Cream: You can use store bought Cool whip or make our super easy Homemade Whipped Cream.

How To Make Chocolate Banana Cream Pie

The longest part of making this pie is letting the layers cool. Everything else is a breeze.

  • In a medium-sized bowl, add in the chocolate, 2 tbsp of milk, and butter and melt in the microwave on high for 1-1 1/2 minutes. Make sure to stir the mixture every 30 seconds until melted. Pour into the bottom of the pie crust and place in the fridge to chill for 30 minutes.
  • Follow the instructions on the pudding package and let sit for 5 minutes.
  • Prepare 1-2 bananas by slicing into pieces and arranging them into a layer.
  • Pour the prepared pudding on top of the banana layer.
  • Cover with cool whip and chill in the fridge for 4 hours or until set.
  • You can top it with more banana pieces and chocolate shavings.

Tips and Variations

  • We love using premade graham cracker crust for the flavor and also saving time. However, feel free to make your favorite homemade pie crust. Chocolate pie crust would be a great option as well.
  • Using whole milk is best for a perfect rich and creamy texture. You can use 2% milk as well, but make sure not to use skim milk.
  • Chilling the pie for at least 4 hours is important to insure the pie is set.

Storing:

Place the top of the lid on the finished banana cream chocolate pie and place in the refrigerator for storing. You can also put the chocolate pie into the freezer to extend the shelf life.

Make ahead – This pie can be made up to 3 days in advance. Make the fillings and store in the fridge separately. Continue chilling for up to 3 days and when you’re ready to serve, layer sliced bananas over top of the melted chocolate and then top with remaining fillings.
