Made with just 3 ingredients, these easy Oreo Balls are a classic no-bake treat. Perfect for the holidays or anytime you’re craving a chocolate treat.

I’ve been making this Oreo balls recipe for years and years. I’ve used it as the base recipe for other variations, like peppermint Oreo balls and Easter egg Oreo balls, but this original recipe is the one I come back to again and again. It’s so just simple and everyone loves it!
Why This Is The Best Oreo Balls Recipe
- Only 3 ingredients. Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate – that’s all you need for this recipe!
- No baking required. In fact, there’s not any cooking required at all, beyond melting the chocolate. You don’t even need a mixer.
- Store well. These Oreo balls can be made well in advance because they store in the fridge for 2-3 weeks and in the freezer for even longer.
- Easy to customize. Feel free to use this recipe as a starting point and customize it with your favorite chocolate, flavors, and toppings. There are so many possibilities!
What You’ll Need
Here’s an overview of the 3 ingredients needed. You can find the measurements in the recipe card below.
- Oreos – I used regular Oreos for these Oreo balls, not double stuffed.
- Cream cheese – Use regular brick cream cheese, not the type in the container. Softened so it’s easier to mix.
- Baking chocolate – Use quality semi-sweet baking chocolate for the best flavor.
Recipe Variations
There are lots of ways to customize your Oreo balls. Here are a few ideas:
- Use different chocolate. Try dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate in place of the semi-sweet. You can even add food coloring to white chocolate for a fun twist.
- Try flavored Oreos. You can make these with vanilla or peppermint Oreos for a different flavor.
- Add an extract. A splash of mint extract can turn these into chocolate mint truffles.
How To Make Oreo Balls
Here’s an overview of how to make homemade Oreo balls. They’re so simple!
- Combine the ingredients. Crush 9 cookies and set aside for later. Crush the remaining cookies then blend with the cream cheese.
- Dip in chocolate. Form the mixture into 1-inch balls. Dip into melted chocolate then place on a baking sheet covered with wax paper. Sprinkle with the reserved cookie crumbs.
- Chill. Refrigerate for at least an hour until firm. Then transfer to another container.
Decorating Ideas
I decorated these Oreo balls with a sprinkle of Oreo crumbs on the still-wet chocolate coating. However there are many different ways to decorate them. Here are a few ideas:
- Drizzle of melted chocolate
- Sprinkles
- Crushed candy canes
- Crushed graham cracker crumbs
Whatever you choose, just be sure to add it while the chocolate is still wet so that it sticks.
Proper Storage
- Fridge. Oreo balls should be stored in the fridge. They’ll last for up to 3 weeks in an airtight container.
- Freezer. They can also be frozen for up to 2 months. Flash-freeze on a baking sheet until solid then transfer to another container. Thaw the Oreo Cookie Balls in the fridge.

I made these Oreo truffles this week, and they are so good! I love that they have simple ingredients. I don’t have a food processor, so crushing the Oreos was a bit time consuming. They still tasted to good though! Thanks for the recipe! I will definitely be making these again.
This is one of our favorite cookie/candies. This year we added peanut butter Oreos and mint Oreos. We dipped the peanut butter Oreo balls in ‘golden vanilla’ melted chocolate, and the mint Oreos in white melted chocolate that was colored with green coloring. They were the hit of every party!!
Can you use almond bark or chocolate chips that are semi sweet instead of bakers chocolate
Hi Ashley, sure! That will work.
Are you crushing the icing in the center type Oreos?Â
Yes!
