Muffin tins aren’t just for baking muffins and cupcakes. They’re also an easy way to make individual portions of breakfast, appetizers, snacks, and dinner recipes. The smaller portions often cook faster, are easy to serve, and are especially convenient for parties and kids.
They’re also great for recipes that you want to make ahead. Depending on the recipe, individual portions can be stored in the refrigerator or freezer and reheated as needed.
Tips For Muffin Tin Recipes
Grease the pan well. Unless the individual recipe says otherwise, use cooking spray or grease the muffin cups to make removing the food easier.
Don’t overfill the cups. Leave enough room for ingredients that may rise or expand as they bake.
Watch the cooking time. Smaller portions often cook faster than the full-size version of a recipe, so follow the directions for each individual recipe.
Let them cool slightly. Allowing muffin tin meals to rest for a few minutes can make them easier to remove without falling apart.
Use the correct pan size. A standard muffin tin and a mini muffin tin aren’t interchangeable without adjusting the amount of filling and cooking time.
Muffin Tin Meals For Kids
One reason I’ve always loved these recipes is that the individual portions are especially fun for kids. Pizza cups, mini corn dogs, mac and cheese cups, cheeseburger puffs, and taco cups turn familiar foods into smaller portions that are easy to pick up and eat.
They’re also useful for after-school snacks, quick lunches, parties, and nights when you want to make dinner a little more fun.
