If you have ever tried the apple pies from McDonald’s? These are hand pies. Simple delicious pies that are made in a way that you can hold in your hand. An individual single serve pie that has all the same amazing flavors and better for you since they are made in the air fryer.

Ingredients

  • Fresh peaches- You can substitute about 2 cups diced canned or frozen peaches
  • Lemon juice-The lemon juice should be fresh-squeezed.
  • Granulated sugar- This will be mixed in with your peach mixture.
  • Vanilla extract- For best flavoring always use pure vanilla.
  • Corn starch- This thickens the pie filling.
  • Pie crusts- You can make your own or use store bought.
  • Powdered sugar- The best sugar for home-made glaze.
  • Milk- You can always use whole or 2%

How to Make a Peach Hand Pie

Take your pie crusts from the refrigerator and set aside to cool to room temperature.

As your pie is cooling, in a medium bowl, combine peaches, sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice.

To allow your juice to form, you will need to set aside your mixture for about 10 minutes.

Leaving about 1 tbsp of the juice, drain the peaches. Then, whisk in the cornstarch until smooth.

The pour the juice mixture into the peaches and gently stir.

Flour a surface and roll out your pie crust. For a template, use about a 5 inch plate and cut around it with a knife into a circle. Keep cutting and folding until all your dough is used. You will have enough dough for about 7-8 circles from your two crusts.

Take a heaping tablespoon full of your filling and place in the center of your crust and brush edges with water and flip and fold the dough into a half-circle. Crimp up the edges using a fork.

To allow steam to release while baking, you will need to cut three small cuts into the top of each pie.

Using non-stick spray, spray the top of each pie and the basket of the air fryer.

Without touching the pies together, place and cook in your fryer for 13-15 minutes at 350 degrees.

You can make your icing while they are cooking by mixing  the powdered sugar and vanilla together. Then, add in your milk to have more of a thin consistency for drizzling.

Take out the pies and allow them to cool down and after they cool, drizzle the icing on top or sprinkle with sugar.

Can I Freeze Air Fryer Peach Hand Pie?

Yes, it is possible to freeze hand pies. You will need to allow them to freeze for about an hour. So, place each one without touching on a lined baking sheet and place in your freezer. Once the hour is up, you will need to place in a freezer bag or wrap each individually in foil.

Can I Use Frozen Peaches?

Although fresh diced peaches will be the best for flavoring. It is possible to use frozen peaches. There is also another option you can use for this recipe. You can also use canned peaches as well and it will give you the same result.

Homestyle Peach Hand Pie

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large fresh peaches diced can substitute about 2 cups diced canned or frozen peaches
  • 1 tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice
  • c granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • tsp corn starch
  • 2 refrigerated unbaked pie crusts
  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ c milk

Instructions

  • Remove pie crusts from the refrigerator and allow to come to room temperature while preparing the filling.
  • Combine the diced peaches, sugar, vanilla, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Stir.
  • Set aside for approx. 10 minutes to allow juice to form.
  • Drain the peaches, reserving 1 tbsp. of the juice. Using a whisk, mix the cornstarch into the 1 tbsp. juice until smooth.
  • Add juice mixture into the peaches and stir lightly.
  • Unroll each pie crust onto a lightly floured surface. Using a 5-inch plate as a template, cut around the plate with a sharp knife to produce a pie crust circle. Continue cutting and rerolling crust when necessary until pie dough is all used. You should be able to get about 7-8 circles from the two crusts.
  • Place a heaping tbsp. of filling in the center of each crust. Brush edges of crusts with water and fold the dough over to form a half-circle. Using a fork, crimp the edges of the half-circle.
  • Using a sharp knife, cut three small slits into the top of each pie to allow steam to escape.
  • Spray the tops of each pie with a non-stick cooking spray. Also, spray the basket of your air fryer with the spray.
  • Place pies in the basket (cook as many at a time as will fit without touching) and cook at 350° for 13-15 minutes.
  • While pies are cooking, make the icing. Combine the powdered sugar and vanilla. Add enough of the milk to form a drizzle-thin consistency.
  • Remove pies from the fryer, cool and drizzle with the icing. If you prefer, you can sprinkle with sugar instead.

  1. Dear Jill and Boys, I am an 84 year old pensioner, living on my own. Your recipes are so exciting and simple to make, I am not the worlds greatest cook, but think I would do well trying your recipes.
