Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s what you’ll need to make Crock Pot Cube Steak with Gravy (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the easy to print recipe card):

  • Beef gravy mix – a beef au jus gravy mix will work as well.
  • Cream of chicken soup – use one undiluted can of soup. You can also use cream of mushroom soup if you prefer.
  • French onion soup – the 10.5 ounce can is just right for this recipe. Do not dilute with extra water.
  • Water – just enough water will be used to thin the gravy down a bit before it all cooks together.
  • Cube steak – you’ll need about 2 pounds, which should be 4 cube steaks.
  • Cornstarch – the cornstarch will help thicken the gravy.

How To Make Cube Steak

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the packet of gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, French Onion soup, and water, then pour into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  • Place the cube steaks in the slow cooker with the gravy mixture.
  • Cover the slow cooker and cook the cube steaks on low for a total time of 6-8 hours until fully cooked and tender. Turn the cube steaks in the gravy about halfway through the cook time.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water. Remove the cube steaks from the slow cooker and set aside, then stir the cornstarch mixture into the gravy in the slow cooker.
  • Return the steaks to the slow cooker. Turn the heat setting to high and cook for 30 minutes, until the gravy is thickened.

What to Serve with Crock Pot Cube Steak and Gravy

Cube steak and gravy is so delicious and comforting and goes great with so many things. Serve the cube steak with any of these great sides and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

  • Mashed potatoes– probably the most perfect side dish with cube steak, because the gravy is amazing over the potatoes. Other potatoes sides that are good are scalloped potatoes or baked potatoes.
  • Egg Noodles– cube steak is also great served over egg noodles.
  • Rice– rice is a great side to go with cube steak and gravy. Try our 5 ingredient Souper Rice.
  • Steamed or roasted vegetables– we love green beans or peas, but broccoli, carrots, corn, or any other veggies you love will be perfect.
  • Bread– slices of soft, buttered bread are wonderful with the cube steak, especially to dip in the gravy.

How to Store Leftover Cube Steak

Keep the leftover cube steaks in an airtight food storage container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave or in a pan on the stove.

This is really good! I have shared this with friends and family. I used low sodium soup. I also added mushrooms on the last 15 minutes. My family really enjoyed it.

      Thank you Shanta!

  3. Rita Canton says:

The gravy ingredients are a lot of sodium for anyone watching their sodium levels. Way too many commercial ways to prepare gravy. Anyone else agree?

  4. Angela says:

What can I use instead of the French onion soup. Allergy to onion?

    1. Jill says:

Hi Angela. You could possibly omit or replace with cream of mushroom or another can of cream of chicken soup. You may need to add a little water as well.
