The Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make Crock Pot Cube Steak with Gravy (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the easy to print recipe card):
Beef gravy mix – a beef au jus gravy mix will work as well.
Cream of chicken soup – use one undiluted can of soup.
French onion soup – the 10.5 ounce can is just right for this recipe. Do not dilute with extra water.
Water – just enough water will be used to thin the gravy down a bit before it all cooks together.
Cube steak – you’ll need about 2 pounds, which should be 4 cube steaks.
Cornstarch – the cornstarch will help thicken the gravy, but you can also choose to skip this ingredient if you prefer.
How to Make Crock Pot Cube Steak
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the packet of gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, French Onion soup, and water, then pour into the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
Place the cube steaks in the slow cooker with the gravy mixture.
Cover the slow cooker and cook the cube steaks on low for 6-8 hours until fully cooked and tender. Turn the cube steaks in the gravy about halfway through the cook time.
In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water. Remove the cube steaks from the slow cooker and set aside, then stir the cornstarch mixture into the gravy in the slow cooker. Return the steaks to the slow cooker. Turn the heat setting to high and cook for 30 minutes, until the gravy is thickened.
What to Serve with Cube Steak and Gravy
Mashed potatoes – probably the most perfect side with cube steak, because the gravy is amazing over the potatoes. Other potatoes sides that are good are scalloped potatoes or baked potatoes.
Steamed or roasted vegetables – we love green beans or peas, but broccoli, carrots, corn, or any other veggies you love will be perfect.
Bread – slices of soft, buttered bread are wonderful with the sube steak.
How to Store Leftover Cube Steak
Keep the leftover cube steaks in an airtight food storage container. Refrigerate for up to three days and reheat individual servings in the microwave or in a pan on the stove.
