Frosted Sugar Cookie Bars

I love making homemade frosted sugar cookie bars. Everyone in my house loves it when I make them, too! I have an easier time making cookie bars then I do regular cookies and they are so pretty with the frosting on top.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 17×12 rimmed cookie sheet with a non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until creamy. Add in the eggs, vanilla and almond extracts, and then mix until well combined.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking powder together. Then, slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Mix until the dough is well combined.
  4. Press the cookie dough evenly into the prepared cookie sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes; my oven took about 17 minutes. If the edges start to brown, remove from oven immediately.
  5. Cool completely before frosting or cutting.

Frosting Directions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter. Slowly add in the powdered sugar. Once combined, slowly add in the heavy cream 1 tbsp. at a time. Once you get to a spreadable consistency, add in your food coloring and mix well.
  2. Frost the bars and decorate. Store in a covered container on the counter.
