Melted Snowman Cookies
No need for a melted snowman cookie cutter – these cookies don’t require any special baking tools to make and that’s why they are the perfect edible craft for kids to create for the Holidays. This is such a cute idea for Holiday class parties at school. The kids go crazy over these! I have even had cookie decorating stations set up where the kids can create their own cookies by looking at examples. It’s so fun to watch what they come up with.
We LOVE making fun Christmas treats and have a lot of other fun Snowman desserts including Snowman Hot Cocoa, Snowman Oreo Cookie Balls, and Snowman Hat Cookies.
Ingredients You will need:
- Sugar Cookies – Use your favorite sugar cookie recipe.
- Marshmallows – you will need large marshmallows.
- Edible Marker – we used black for the eyes/mouth and orange for the nose.
- Cookie Icing – red and black icing is used, but you could always change or make the scarves different colors.
How To Make Melted Snowman Cookies
- Prepare your sugar cookies and let them completely cool.
- Draw eyes and a mouth on the marshmallows using the black edible marker. Then draw the nose using the orange edible marker. Set aside.
- Spread the white icing onto the cookie to look like melted snow.
- While the icing is still wet, immediately place a marshmallow to one side of the cookie.
- Pipe black icing for the arms and buttons. Use your red (or any color) icing for the scarf.
- Let them cookies sit until hardened (about 10-15 minutes).
Tips and Tricks
- When adding your “snow” icing, start with outlining and then fill in with the rest.
- In a hurry? Use pre-made sugar cookies from the grocery store. We highly recommend our sugar cookie recipe, but store-bought cookies will work just fine.
- You can also use coloring chocolate chips or sprinkles for the buttons.
- We have a fantastic sugar cookie icing recipe if you have a hard time finding store bought icing.
- Add the decorations quickly. Cookie icing has a tendency to set pretty fast, so you’ll want to add the marshmallow as quickly as possible. Decorate one cookie at a time instead trying to decorate in batches.

I made these for our family Christmas party. I used orange sprinkles for the nose instead of drawing it.
These are so easy and so cute!
Awesome cookies
How do I get the Pink Pyrex set????
this was in a movie call the sweetest christmas
Very easy recipe!
These are such a great idea. For the red scarf you could use red licorice whips, the real thin ones.
Right now at Walmart in the Christmas cupcake decorating section they have a small package of eyes, carrots and buttons for making snowmen that would be perfect for this.
Thanks so much Jodi
