What Type of Apples are Best

I went with a mix of apples for this recipe, but you can’t go wrong with good ol’ granny smith apples. Any firm, tart apple that’s great for baking will do the trick.

Can I use a different type of frosting for this cake?

While vanilla frosting is the classic choice for Apple Dapple Cake, you can definitely get creative and use a different type of frosting such as cream cheese or caramel to add even more flavor to your cake.

    1. Hi MJ. Yes it freezes fairly well in an airtight container. You can just thaw to eat or warm up in the microwave.

  1. I made the Apple Dapple Cake and we loved the cake. The only issue was the glaze was clear and didn’t show on the cake like your picture. Don’t know what I did wrong.

    1. Thanks Carol. I’m not sure what the issue could have been. Simmering the butter and brown sugar give it the color shown in the pictures.
