Bacon Wrapped Smokies

These Bacon Wrapped Smokies are so delicious! Having a delicious mini sausage wrapped in tasty bacon will become anyone’s favorite bite to eat. This recipe is so easy to prepare and will create one of the best appetizers. So, be sure to keep this one saved for future hungry tummies.

Ingredients

  • Smokies- You will be needing about 36 of the Lil smokies.
  • Bacon- You do not want to use thick-cut bacon for this recipe.
  • Honey- Hot honey is needed for this recipe.
  • Light brown sugar- This will add richness to the flavor.
  • Water- Water will be added to the honey mixture.
  • Ground cayenne pepper- This will be an optional ingredient for more flavor.

How to Make Bacon Wrapped Smokies

Set the oven to 375 degrees and use parchment paper to line a baking sheet and place it aside.

Use a paper towel to remove excess moisture from the little smokies.

Slice the bacon in thirds to make 36 pieces.

Wrap the bacon around each mini sausage and use a toothpick to keep it in place, then arrange on to the prepared pan.

Add the honey, brown sugar, water, and cayenne (if using) into a small bowl and combine. Brush onto the top of the mini smokies and then, place in the oven to bake for 15 minutes.

Take out and flip the smokies and brush the rest of the honey mixture on top, then bake for another 8-15 minutes until you reach your preferred bacon crisp.

Take out and let the smokies cool before removing them from the tray.

Serve and enjoy!

How do I Get the Bacon Crisp on These Smokies?

So, for these Bacon Smokies, it is very easy to make sure all the bacon is cooked. You will need to have your smokies placed in the highest part of your oven. Make sure to flip the smokies halfway through, so they can cook evenly.

What Dipping Sauce Goes With Lil Smokies?

These Bacon Smokies can be dipped in anything you prefer. You can uses condiments like ketchup, ranch, or mustard. But, the dipping sauces all depend on what you like.

Ingredients
  

  • 36 little smokies
  • 12 slices bacon not thick cut
  • ½ cup hot honey
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Pat the little smokies with a paper towel to remove any excess moisture.
  • Cut the strips of bacon into 3 sections giving you 36 pieces.
  • Wrap each little smokie in a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Place the bacon-wrapped smokies on the prepared baking pan.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, brown sugar, water, and cayenne (if using) until combined and brush the mixture over the top of the little smokies and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and flip the little smokies and brush with the remaining sugar and honey mixture and then bake for an additional 8 to 15 minutes depending on how crisp you want the bacon.
  • Remove from the oven and allow the smokies to cool slightly before using a fork to assist in remove the toothpick or serve with the toothpick.

Notes

The hot honey adds a slight kick and delicious flavor but is not a strong heat. The cayenne pepper can be added for additional spice if desired. If you don’t have hot honey on hand, you can also just use regular honey and cayenne.
It’s important to flip these halfway through so one side doesn’t get too crispy while the other remains soft.
A bag of little smokies usually has about 37 to 42 smokies in it, feel free to use the whole bag.
