How To Make 3 Versions of Melted Snowman Cookies

No need for a melted snowman cookie cutter – these cookies don’t require any special baking tools to make and that’s why they are the perfect edible craft for kids to create for the Holidays. For our favorite versions, we use store-bought cookie dough, chocolate cookies and cut-out sugar cookies.

These cookies are such a cute idea for Holiday class parties at school. The kids go crazy over these! I have even had cookie decorating stations set up where the kids can create their own cookies by looking at examples. It’s so fun to watch what they come up with.

Easy Melted Snowman Cookies

The process begins with the creation of the cookie canvas – a soft and buttery base that sets the stage for your snowman masterpiece. This easy version is made with pre-made cookie dough.

Ingredients Needed

  • Sugar Cookies – Use store bought cookie dough to make these. Our homemade recipes are listed below.
  • Marshmallows – you will need large marshmallows to make 2 versions of these cookies.
  • Edible Marker – we used black for the eyes/mouth and orange for the nose.
  • Cookie Icing – different colors of icing are used for decorating. Feel free to change up the colors to whatever you prefer.

Tips and Tricks

Icing. When adding your “snow” icing, start with outlining and then fill in with the rest. We have a fantastic sugar cookie royal icing recipe if you have a hard time finding store bought icing.

In a hurry? Use pre-made sugar cookies from the grocery store. We highly recommend our soft sugar cookie recipe, but store-bought cookies will work just fine.

Variations. You can also use coloring chocolate chips or sprinkles for the buttons.

Cookie Recipes. We give you a few homemade cookie recipes that are our favorite options, but feel free to use any cookie recipe. Peanut butter cookies are also a favorite. Using pre-made cookies from the grocery store or even a sugar cookie mix will work and also save some time.

Add the decorations quickly. Cookie icing has a tendency to set pretty fast, so you’ll want to add the marshmallow as quickly as possible. Decorate one cookie at a time instead trying to decorate in batches.

Storing

Cookies can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container and kept for up to one week.

Can I keep leftover icing? Leftover icing can be stored in an airtight container and kept in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks if you make your own instead of store-bought.

I made these for our family Christmas party. I used orange sprinkles for the nose instead of drawing it.
These are so easy and so cute!

Right now at Walmart in the Christmas cupcake decorating section they have a small package of eyes, carrots and buttons for making snowmen that would be perfect for this.
