Ingredients You Will Need:

Here’s what you’ll need to make the Amish apple fritter bread (the exact measurements and full recipe instructions are below in the printable recipe card):

  • Brown sugar
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vanilla extract
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Milk
  • Apples
  • Powdered sugar

How to Make Amish Apple Fritter Bread

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF. Prepare an 8.5×4.5×2.5-inch loaf pan by greasing it with non-stick cooking spray.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the 2/3 cup granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla, just until combined.
  • In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until combined. Add the milk and mix until smooth.

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread out evenly.

  • In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple filling ingredients.

  • Pour half of the apples over the batter in the pan.

  • Spread on the remaining batter.

  • Top with the remaining apples and press the apples down slightly.

  • Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over top of the bread.

  • Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

How to Store Leftovers

Keep the bread wrapped in plastic or in an airtight container. It will keep in the refrigerator or on the counter for up to four days.

    Baked this today( Christmas Eve) for our Christmas morning breakfast. Very simple to put together. Making my house smell wonderful.

    Great recipe, so delicious. Be careful when doubling the recipe. The instructions say one stick of butter when it really requires 2.

    I made the bread and it was delicious. Then made 1 big loave and then 4 little ones which was 1 batch divided up everyone love it. Also one is getting the receipe so she can make more. Thanks for making the receipe.

    Very good!! The only comment is that the written recipe does not include number of eggs.  I went by the photo of ingredients in the post so I added 2. Turned out great. Was this correct? Will you update the recipe?
