How to Make Amish Apple Fritter Bread
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Prepare an 8.5×4.5×2.5-inch loaf pan by greasing it with non-stick cooking spray.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon; set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the 2/3 cup granulated sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs and vanilla, just until combined.
In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until combined. Add the milk and mix until smooth.

Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread out evenly.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the apple filling ingredients.

Pour half of the apples over the batter in the pan.

Spread on the remaining batter.

Top with the remaining apples and press the apples down slightly.

Sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over top of the bread.

Bake at 350ºF for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. In a small bowl, combine the glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over the cooled bread.

I made this today and it’s absolutely delicious! I’ll be making it again! I wish I could add pictures because it turned out beautifully! I added some of the brown sugar and cinnamon to the apples in the middle and served it warm with some vanilla ice cream. Mmmmm
Thank you Alycen!
We all thought the Amish Apple Bread was delicious!
Thank you for the recipe.
Thank you BJ!
Although delicious the batter spilled over my standard 8 inch loaf pan. Could smell burning put pan to catch overspill. I noticed you say it’s a 8 inch loaf loaf but yours is not filled nearly as much as mine. Are you using standard loaf pans?
Sorry Janice. Yes, this uses a standard 8.5″ loaf pan. The batter and apples will usually fill approximately 2/3 of the pan and maybe a little more. We have used a 9″ with this as well.
Any idea on how many and how lo g to bake for mini loaves. Thinking of Christmas gifts.
Hi Lauren. This recipe should yield 4 mini loaves. Baking time will be between 25-28 minutes.
20 minutes for preparing ingredients is WAY OFF in my opinion; other than that it is GREAT! Thank you. Planning on making it for Thanksgiving & gifts for Christmas!
Thanks Jenny. Yes, I can see that the prep time would be longer if you are preparing your apples as well. I will adjust that info. Thanks!
Very good! Tried to give 5 stars but the 5th one wouldn’t work for me.
Thank you Lisa!
AMAZING A MUST HAVE FOR FALL everyone loved
Thanks Log!
I’ve made this recipe several times before and it is delicious! Have passed the link to recipe to family and friends. We all love the recipe.
Thank you Carol!
Is there a way to get weight measurements?
Easy…. It’s still in the oven. I substituted GF one to one flour and it looks great.
Thanks Debi!
I have made this twice in one week!
Absolutely delicious and easy to make.
Passed the recipe onto a friend
Thanks Karen!
This is the first time making this bread! This is definitely a keeper! Everyone that tried it loved it.
Thank you Karen!
Delicious!! I made one loaf yesterday. I am making another one today
Thanks Susan!
This recipe is so good I wish I hadn’t made it because I want to eat the whole loaf! I switched the eggs with mashed banana and halved the milk, but it was still moist enough to need an extra 20 min in the oven but it came out perfect
Thanks Reagan!
So delicious!! I’ve made it twice now and it comes out so moist but quite crumbly when trying to cut into slices- any recommendations??
Can this be made with gluten free flour?
Hi Karla. Yes you can use GF flour with this recipe with good results.
I have now made this 6 times and it gets better each time. As written and my preference is for Robin Hood cake and pastry flour for the softest crumb. I use honey crisp apples cut slightly smaller and I use salted butter and eggs at room temperature. It’s so good we’ve ditched banana chocolate bread forever. It’s what I’m bringing up for Christmas gifts and my neighbours loved it. Winner winner winner! Thank you.
Thank you Karen!
I doubled the recipe and made two loaves earlier today…I need to hide the second one as there are only 3 slices of the first one left! So very good!
Thank you Regina!
I’m definitely making this tomorrow. Can you freeze the loaf?
Thanks Jo An! Yes, this fritter bread will freeze well.
Perfect thank you so much… great with coffee in the morning
Thank you Mary!
