Made it this morning. Used 2 1/2 cups apples and for the glaze I used apple cider instead of milk. Family loved it!!
Mine came out where the middle apples settled towards the bottom and is crumbly. What should I do differently?
First I made this bread and what a wonderful, moist bread this is. I did add the extra flour (1/4 cup) as suggested and I mixed the chopped apples into the batter. Since I needed something for a morning coffee get-together I decided to double the recipe and bake it in a buttered 13×9 pan, using 350 degree oven and baking it for 40 minutes. It was equally delicious & moist and received many compliments. Thanks for the recipe. I will be making this again.
Am I the only one who had problems with the brown sugar burning on top before the bread was fully done? What went wrong?
I had the issue with it not getting done. Had to bake it an extra thirty minutes! And my oven is brand new, bought this month, so I know it wasn’t the oven. Next time I’ll bake it in an 8×8 pan instead.
Same…
Steve, when you see that the top is getting a golden / dark crust, try putting some aluminum foil loosely over top, that will prevent burning… that’s what I do when making any kind of bread. Good luck.
Excellent recipe! I followed it as written but added 1/2 tsp of nutmeg to the apple mixture. I also doubled and it came out beautifully!
Be sure to make the parchment hammock to pans for easy transfer from pan when done!!!
One of my favorites. I’ve made it 3 times in a week. Some for neighbors, some for family and of course for us! So good!
i made the mistake of sharing this bread with people. Now everyone wants it. I’ve made it 20 times. It’s too good.
Yum
I made this to take to my Brother and sister -N-Law , it was so good
I’m making my husband his own loaf this evening and I also am going to try this with peaches for my mom
So delicious. I made this dairy free – using unsweetened oat milk and earth bound butter substitute.
AMAZING.
The apple fritter bread was moist, did have some pieces fall apart. I cut the loaf down the middle so that could have added to the crumb pieces. Good idea to pat down apples and cinnamon. Made it last night and this morning 1/2 was gone.Thank you for a great recipe.
Noticed no salt needed. Ever tried with? I’m so used to adding salt. Looks delish! Gonna make today.
Hi! I would like to make this in mini pans to give as Christmas gifts. What would you suggest for the baking directions?
Make as per the recipe and just split between smaller tins
Really lol smaller pans less time in the oven
I have made this many times with great results…… Everyone loves this loaf!!
looks great.xxx
I made this delicious bread today for the first time, great results. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
I love this recipe, I have made it twice and we love it. If I am not careful my husband will eat the whole loaf, so I have to hide it from him.
I haven’t cooked this yet, but it sure looks great. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. I love the fritters, This is even better.
Amazing recipe! Have made this several times this season and the family gobbles it up! Super easy just delicious. A must try!
Another question, have you ever tried gluten free flour, and if so, how well did it turn out!??? The bread is so good as is, but family with GL issues can’t have it as is!
Hi, I just made this with GF flour today and I used a good quality GF flour from Costco and it’s a 1×1 ration for flour. I let my wet ingredients sit in with the flour when mixing for about 20 minutes to really let the flour absorb the moisture then I looked to see if I needed to add a touch more milk. GF flour doesn’t absorb well so you have to let it sit with wet ingredients for a few. other than that it turned out nice. it will be very dense. it i think that’s just the nature of GF flour.
Since I have celiac disease I made this yummy bread with gluten free flour (Red Mills) and it turned out great all 3 times…
I used Bob’s Red Meal one to one flour and it turned out wonderful but had to cook it a little longer. Worth it!!!
Loved the bread the first time I made it and would love to share as gifts for Christmas. My question is, can this bread be frozen so it can take a trip through the mail, or would it not take well to being frozen?
Thanks Jennifer! Yes, you can freeze. Wrap in plastic wrap and then foil.
